An Overland Park Tradition

Hayward and Hattie Spears have been smoking meats since 1972 in Overland Park and continue to have a great and loyal following. Doesn't quite have the "soulful atmosphere" as some of the bbq joints in the older parts of town, but it is a pleasant place to chow down, and the barbecue is tender and tasty. Its location is easy for us suburbanites to get to. Also has a meeting or banquet facility.

Addendum (February 05): Visited Hayward's again. The quality and service have noticeably declined. So has the dinner-time crowd. I won't be back soon, there are too many better barbeque joints in the area.
