On 6th street as you drive...

On 6th street as you drive west from down town and the capitol towards Wanamaker and things to do there you will see a cemetary. Wild geese and ducks have learned the cemetary is a good place for them to live. It is quiet and safe for them. People often come by just to feed them. For those who like seeing birds this is a good place to see waterfowl up close. Usually there are just Canada geese, mallard ducks, and toulouse geese but some times different species of wild ducks will be there as well.

This is another picture inside the Kansas State Capitol. The mural in the background through the arch is probably the most famous of them all in the capitol building. It depicts John Brown holding a bible in one hand and a rifle in the other. He stands over the bodies of a confederate and a union soldier. In the background are flames. The mural reminds us of a time when my state was known as Bleeding Kansas and men faught and killed one another before and during the Civil War here.

My grandmother and my brother live here, so I am in Topeka quite often. My mother, grandfather, and uncle are also buried in a cemetary here.
This past June, there were a ton of thunder storms (par for the course in Kansas!) and one night we saw the strangest cloud cover I have ever seen. I had to take a picture of it to share with everyone.
