No 747's to Lisbon here

Wichita Mid-Continent Airport serves the vast majority of commercial airliner travel in and around Wichita. It is most certainly not a large airport and offers mostly connecting flights to larger airports, namely Dallas and St. Louis.
But the upside is easy to see...you will never have a 1-3 hours wait in line at a desk. Nor will you ever have a 1-2 hours trip through security. The waits are short and the walks shorter.
A good selection of airlines can still be found here though including Delta, American, Northwest, United, Continental, and now Air-Tran.

On Douglas between Century II and Old town are statues like this for about three blocks. All different kinds of statues. I've included pictures here of a few and left it for you to find some others on your own when you are there.
The River fest !!!

To enjoy most of the the fun week you have to buy a button that you can buy at our local Quick Trips. The price is $5 (of course I remember when they used to be $2) And of course every year they have a new picture on the buttons. This year 2007 is Ducks. There are 4 different buttons of these ducks and some Wichitians collect them.
We have concerts, lots and lots of food!!, rides, and the best part is the fireworks on the last day of it!!
The events that I look forward to are the bathtub races, Skiers on the water and of course the Fireworks at the end. Opps and the beginning of it all the Parade. best place to watch the parade is on the bridge where you can feel it move as they pass by. You must get there early to get a good seat.
Thalor's Wichita Visits
by Thalor
I have been to visit relatives in Wichita, Kansas a number of times. Since I was a child, in fact. My mom's side of the family lives there.
Its a nice midwestern town with nice big suburbs. I think I heard the original Pizza Hut was founded there many, many years ago. My uncle showed me the spot where it had once stood.
I had my first buffalo burger at a regular comfortable restaurant in Wichita. Tastes great with ketchup!
They have a wonderful zoo there if you like to take pictures and see animals and all.
