Boone Tavern Hotel
I didn't stay the night, only had lunch but the location is superbly appointed.
Unique Quality: Built in 1908 to house guests of the college. It opened in 1909 and charged $2.00 per day. Enlarged over the years the tavern now has 63 guest rooms. It's considered one of the "finest small inns in the South."

Best Hotel in the town

"Stay the night in one of Boone Tavern's spacious guest rooms, where the quiet elegance of handmade furniture is combined with modern convenience. Become part of the unique Berea lifestyle where quality and tradition blend with Southern hospitality and the youthful vigor of a college campus.
"Berea College students play a big part in Boone Tavern by providing our guest with friendly and courteous service in the Hotel and Dining Room. These students work 10 to 15 hours weekly while carrying a full academic load. Since 1855, all of Berea's 1500 students are employed in one or more of 140 work areas at the college."
Unique Quality: There's no pool, but the hotel is still the best in town. It's old, and maybe a little frayed around the edges, but it's still classy and has an old world charming elegance. The hotel has a great restaurant on site, and if that doesn't suit your needs, there's a coffee shop and an Italian place just around the corner.

Reliving a Bygone Era
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Boone Tavern Hotel, named for Appalachian hero Daniel Boone. To enter the doors of this historic old hotel is to step back in time to a gracious and genteel bygone era. Built by Berea College in 1909, the beautiful white-columned structure was designed to house visitors to the campus. Berea students pay for their tuition and gain practical experience in the hospitality industry by working in the hotel.
Unique Quality: Boone Tavern is the only facility in Kentucky listed by the Historic Hotels of America, National Trust for Historic Preservation. There is also a gift shop and a fine dining room which is the best place to eat in Berea. Campus and Student Industries tours leave from the hotel's lobby.

The Boone Tavern Hotel is an old historic hotel operated and owned by Berea College. Students work at the hotel or elsewhere such as the craft program instead of paying tuition. The Boone Tavern would be a great place for a relaxing weekend for those who enjoy browsing among the many craft stores in Berea--especially those located near the college.
