Southeastern Kentucky along Interstate 75 has several lakes which are great for boating activities. These are not exactly secret and can be crowded on weekends. See the State Park website mentioned above for Lake Cumberland State Park and Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park. This area also includes Cumberland falls (pictured below) and the Big South Fork National recreation area which extends into Tennessee.
