Manners
by kam1022
One thing you may notice when you visit Lexington, if you are from up north, is that the people are so polite. Where I live, Cincinnati, people let doors slam in your face, shove past you without a word, and will never let you out on the street. In Lexington, people almost always stop to hold the door, say "Pardon me" and when there isa traffic jam, they wave you in (and they wave thank you when you let them in!) It is so nice to visit a place where people still have manners.

Raven Run nature sanctuary in Southern Fayette County on Jack’s Creek Pike is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Lexington and stop and smell the wildflowers. Raven run is free and open to the public and frequently offers special programs, such as Spring wildflower walks. Call 859-272-6105 for information. See my travelogue for more pictures from Raven Run. This is an overlook from a limestone cliff viewing the Kentucky River.

SPUDS GRILL & TAVERN
Spuds is probably classed as my local pub although they do some good food too. My favorite items are the Buffalo Wings ($5.25) and the Smothered Chicken (approx $8.00) but I've been told that their Crab's Legs ($4.95 for 1lb) and Frog's Legs (75c a pair) are well worth trying.
Horse Farms
by gkitzmil
If you drive Route 60 west between Lexington and Frankfort you will see some of the most beautiful horse farms in the world. If that is inconvenient and you travel down I-75 exit Iron Works Pike. Head east to Route 27 and then back west to I-75. You will see many horse farms that way, too.
many horse farms will give tours IF you call in advance and make reservations. for a good list of available tours try
