Louisa, Kentucky "Gem of the Big Sandy"
Louisa, Kentucky is on the eastern border of Kentucky, one it shares with West Virginia. The area was settled in the 1700's and George Washington was one of the original surveyors of the area. Today Louisa has a general population of some 5,000 residents, many of whom are retired or who work out of the county. Coal is king here and provides much of the economic stimulus for the area. Louisa is also home to Yatesville Lake. The lake is popular with fishermen and now sports an 18 hole golf course.
