If you're visiting Louisville during baseball season and have 1/2 a day to kill, go and see professional baseball players use the bats that made Louisville famous. The Louisville Bats, the city's minor league team, play in beautiful and easily accessible Slugger Stadium. Tickets are cheap, the food is your typical stadium food, and there isn't a bad seat in the house.
This is a small chain restaurant, where you order your food at the counter and it is delivered to your table. I was quite surprised how good the Cajun food was. They have all levels of spiciness and all of your favorite dishes from red beans and rice to gumbo. In addition to the great Cajun entrees, they have excellent deserts as well. I would recommend both the peach cobbler and the bread pudding. Wonderful!
Has a great Caribbean atmosphere here, and the waiters are dressed in similar Carribean garb. Food that I had (some calamari and some fried thing) was very good and the bar setting (the only place I've been so far) was fun. I hope to return for a dinner here, but until then, this will have to do.
If you are going to Louisville for any Churchill Downs event (other than watching the Stones concert), you will most likely be watching horse racing. When the horses run, there will always be someone there to take your bet.
I was very lucky on the day I went, where I walked away with $52 dollars profit (until the tax man finds me). There are several strategies you can employ, but for a $2 risk, you never know, you might walk away a winner!
Gaslight Festival. This festival, located in Jeffersontown, Kentucky, is great for families and younger kids. There are rides, games, arts and crafts, and a whole bunch of other stuff. It is pretty cool for kids and teens, especially as a place to hang out, and meet other teens.
