Non-Race Days and Churchill Downs

We went to Churchill Downs and went into the museum as there is no racing there at the moment. There were a lot of very interesting exhibits.
The fourth picture shows some artwork done by children, and apparently there are rotating art exhibits by children because there was one when we were there, and there's one there called Horsing Around with Art: A Student's View of the Sport of Kings which runs from January 17- March 18, 2007
An equine-related art competition with works submitted by students from Jefferson County public, private and parochial schools. All the artwork reflects the Kentucky Derby, Churchill Downs or the Thoroughbred racing industry and captures the rich tradition and heritage of the Kentucky Derby I took a picture of the band uniform with an M on it because I thought that might stand for Maryland. I couldn't figure out what it would be doing in Kentucky.
Bardstown Road... I almost...

Bardstown Road... I almost forgot this place. It's Louisville's road for restaurants, bistros, bars, shops, and basic overall 'eclectic-ness.' You find a good mix of people here, so maybe spend some time people watching!! The segment that is probably of interest to most people is between Taylorsville Road and downtown. Most parking is parallel around here, and the street is sort of narrow. Also gets very busy in rush hour.

Small Italian restaurant in a converted train depot, or thereabouts. ;) There doesn't seem to be many people at this place, but I thought the food was really good. The place was nicely decorated and all, but I dunno. Give it a try... maybe it's because it's not on a main route.
Lilly's

4 star restaurant that has absolutely wonderful food! I especially liked the field greens kind of salad I had. Delicious! :) It's almost in a hole-in-the-wall kind of place, but it's pretty nice once inside. I love the bread and spread they serve, with the olive oil on the side, of course. Olive oil and the garlic spread are delicious!
Churchill Downs.

The Kentucky Derby is run here each May. This is the most famous horse race in the world. To win the Triple Crown, a horse must win this, the Preakness, and the Belmont Stakes. Not many of them have done it. Be sure to see the museum.
