Private Children´s School In Louisville

by listenandlearn

Hi, Would anyone out there have a website for grade schools located in Louisville¿ One of my closest cousin is moving from London to Louisville this year. They have 3 young school children, ages 9, 8 and 4 years old. The husband was just hired as a CEO of a super big corporation, and they have not yet found a most recomendable school for the children. Also, having come & having sold their home in UK would anyone recommend a high standard of living areas in Louisville¿ Any good comment or suggestions from Louisville would greately be appreciated. Cheers to all.

Hi,

I don't have children, but live in Louisville. Found this site regarding schools: http://www.privateschoolreview.com/county_public_schools_state.php

Louisville has numerous private schools. Many are Catholic. Several of my friends send their toddlers to Highland Presbyterian. It's located in an area known as the Highlands. Louisville Collegiate School is another excellent non-denominational option. Also in the Highlands area.

Regarding affluent areas, many people live in the "East end". Specific communities would include:
St. Matthews (centrally located, established community, mostly older homes)
Anchorage (further out, older homes, more privacy, great trees)
Lake Forest (suburban, newer executive homes - realtors will tend to suggest this area for new residents. I'm not sure why.)
The Highlands/Cherokee Park area - (centrally located to restaurants, pubs & shops, more urban, eclectic & young. Older Victorian homes)
Oldham County - (Northeast of Louisville. Many families move to Oldham County for the school system. Good public schools. Rapidly developing area. Lots of new developments. Executive homes. Farms & land can still be found here.)
Also worth exploring (depending upon driving distance to work): Crestwood, Floyd's Knobs (across the river in Indiana. Views of Louisville).

Good luck. - Leann

Travel Tips for Louisville

Louisville has many...

by John195123

Louisville has many neighborhoods, as does any city. Poorer people live out in the west end, mainly welfare and low income. If you're in the blue-hair, 30 nose rings crowd, you'll probably be best visiting Bardstown Road, north of the Watterson. If you like bars, live music and partying, Bardstown Road isn't bad either, especially there at Broadway. There are many richer neighborhoods, towards the east end of town, like out in Prospect, the city of Hurstbourne area, off Lime Kiln Lane. And there are of course many middle of the road areas in between and around and outside of all the areas. There are some nice places out in Oldham county (proximity to the city without having to pay city taxes ;)......)
There are many rich sections and many good sections.

River Road:
Anything on River Road is bound to be expensive, and oh, don't forget flood insurance! Extremely Rich

Nitta Yuma:
Nitta Yuma is off Wolf Pen Branch. It is beautiful, and exclusive. Tres tres cher! Extremely Rich

Bridgepointe:
Bridgepoint is a pretty good neighborhood with clubhouse and pool. I think they still have a swim team. There is a inter-neighborhood swimming race schedule in the summers. I did that and had much fun. I wasn't on Bridgepointe's team, though. It is a
Very Good

Woodstone:
Woodstone is a great neighborhood, quiet and peaceful. Extremely Rich ;)

Falls Creek:
Very good. Many nice houses, but they are all so close together.

Paramount Estates:
Very nice area with big houses. Houses still close together, but they have a big quarry you can swim in with a nice clubhouse. Rich.

Wow, there's much more to do on this section. Back soon!

If you have questions about any area of the city, please ask!

For a small 'mountain-bike' ride, check out Briar Hills, just inside the Oldham County line. Go out on KY 22, and look for Briar Hills Estates on your left. Then follow that road straight to the park.

Thatsa Wrap

by dzni about Thatsa Wrap

These are THE BEST wraps I have ever had. Actually, all of their wraps are good! Oh wow, and you HAVE to have one of their smoothies... again, best smoothies you'll find anywhere! Speaking of which.... I should go out and get one now! Chicken Ceasar Wrap and Strawberry-Banana smoothie

mmm... I recently had a peanut butter-banana smoothie that was excellent, and I learned that they now serve gourmet pizzas... something to check out.

Mambo

by John195123 about Mambo

Cuban food, excellent Cuban food.
The Cuban owner runs around all evening working the floor along with four waitresses. Busy, quality, well decorated, and located near the Vietnam Kitchen! They have some awesom plates here... I've only been once, so I don't yet want to give a favorite.

There is a lot to do in the city. Great college basketball and football during the seasons and a minor league baseball team the Riverbats who play at home in Slugger field. Excellent art museum (speed museum), Kentucky Derby Museum, louisville Slugger museum, several older restored landmark houses downtown which offer tours, and lots of antique shops in the bardstown road area which is the arts and crafts..soho equivalent
Louisville is home to the Kentucky Derby which runs the first Saturday in May. At the track (Churchill downs) there is a great inter active museum that is worthy of a visit. if you are here when the track is open for the regular meets, I recommend at least a visit. We do have a nice zoo and an IMAX theater which changes programs often.
