Historic and Conveniently Located Downtown

Our room at the Galt House Hotel was recently renovated and very clean and inviting. The front desk staff was kind and helpful. There are a number of pleasant public areas for conversation and relaxation.

I always travel with a laptop and this room offered free wi-fi connectivity, which is a much appreciated amenity.

Unique Quality: Our room had a great view of the Ohio River and I enjoyed watching the barges traveling up and down the river. In addition, there is a brand new fitness club on the top floor of the eastern tower. It offers panoramic views of the river and downtown Louisville. The per-person cost for the fitness club is $5 per day or $10 per week.

Good Place

Galt House - Right on the River

The Galt House is a very large hotel located right on the Ohio River. It consists of two towers connected by a third floor walkway. Of the two towers, the East Tower is much more modern in appearance. The West Tower looks very 1970's.

In the east tower we stayed in an Executive Suite which was two separate rooms connected by a hallway with a bathroom off of it. It was a real suite, not a larger room with a partition in it.

Unique Quality: We were up in Louisville to watch Thunder over Louisville. This is the kickoff celebration to the Kentucky Derby Festival. The entire show is centered on the Second Street Bridge which is right next to the Galt House. The Hotel serves as the Air Traffic Control for the Airshow and the pilots gather there before and after their flights to have a good time. An Night, Thunder presents the Largest Fireworks show in North America and it is absolutely unbelievable. Stay at the Galt House and you have a front row seat on their pool deck.

Overlooking the River

The Galthouse is enourmous. The rooms are really nice. The location is great. Walking distance to the "Louisville Slugger", Shopping Center is just a couple of blocks away. The horse drawn carriages come by in the evenings for a nice little ride.

The best around

The Gault House is a first rate Hotel and Convention Center worthy of a 5 star rating. Mahogony furniture, marble bathrooms and huge suites.

Unique Quality: With rooftop restaraunts and many eating facilities in the two towers The Gault House offers the unique attraction of being able to eat while viewing Louisville and Indiana in a revolving dining area.

Downtown Louisville

The Galt House is located in downtown Louisville. It is the only hotel in Louisville that is right on the Ohio River. The rooms here are very spacious. Some rooms have great views of the Ohio River. All the major Louisville attractions are within 15 minutes.

Unique Quality: The hotel has many meeting room, restaurant with lounge, an outdoor pool, and is right on the Ohio River

Louisville has all kinds of...

Louisville has all kinds of hotels, but there are a few really worth the visit. The Galt House is located downtown overlooking the Ohio River. It is one of Louisville's finest and oldest hotels. If you look down out your north-facing window, you will see an area between the hotel and the river. This is known as the Belvedere. I worked on it a while ago, irrigating it so it is nice and green for you!

Unique Quality: Old hotel in the city, quite nice, and a good view of the Ohio. It is not cheap.

Well, I've never actually...

Well, I've never actually stayed anywhere in this city since I live here, but there are a few 'famous' ones downtown. The Seelbach is a very high-class hotel downtown on 4th Street. I had my prom here and was very impressed with the ballroom anyway. It's also the hotel mentioned in 'The Great Gatsby,' if you've read that. The Brown is another classy place, also housing The English Grill, a 5 star restaurant, if I'm not mistaken. Lastly downtown is the Galt House, a twin-tower hotel overlooking the river. Seems to be of moderate luxury, but nice nonetheless. I've been to a couple functions here over the years.
