 | Hawthorn Louisville: A Nice Hotel that's a good value

We stayed for two nights in early July. Loved the suite set-up as we could put the kids to bed, close the bedroom door, and stay up watching TV ourselves. The kitchenette included a refridgerator, dishwasher, microwave, and stove. Only two of each type of dishes & utensils though. My only issue with the room was that I was hoping for the bigger 42" plasma TV's that many of the chains now use. We had conventional 27-32" TV's in the bedroom and living room instead.
The free breakfast was good, but not incredible. We weren't around for the happy hour snacks from 5-7, so I can't rate that.
The staff & service was friendly and efficient.
We were about a 20-25 minute drive away from Churchill Downs, and about 15-20 minutes from Six Flags. Downtown and the riverfront were only 10-12 minutes away.
This hotel is located in a wonderful area, near the St. Matthews Mall. It was right behind the Land Rover/Jaguar dealer, so that'll give you some idea of the area. There are many restaurants close by, and a second mall too.
Accross the street from the Jaguar dealer is a local park I took my kids for a walk in. Saw people walking their dogs, jogging, and cycling there too.
The hotel's pool was nice, and the hot tub was big enough for 8-10 people without having to get to cozy with strangers. Adult guests could use the gym across the street for free.
We were quoted a decent rate when we booked online, but found it to be about $44 LESS when we checked out. Theme: HotelPrice: US$80-120 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageDirections: Near St. Matthews Mall at 264 & 60. The hotel is located behind a Land Rover/Jaguar dealer and across from a large new looking gym. A nice local park is a few hundred yards away.
