Close to the Airport - And the track..
Thanks to a business trip, I had to go (emphasize had) to the days leading up to the Kentucky Derby in Louisville. Based on that, I chose a hotel close to Churchill Downs and the airport. The Hilton Garden Inn Louisville Airport was a great location as it was equidistant between both!
The Hilton Garden Inn was very pleasant on check in with fresh cookies and a good staff. They were able to get through a line of 6 people in about 10 minutes, which was much faster than I expected. They also have a pantry where they give you a complimentary water on arrival.
I also ate from their room service one evening, and it was actually worth it! The wedge salad actually featured a whole head of lettuce, and their chicken strips were big and delicious too!
All of this within a mile or so of both Churchill Downs and Louisville Stadium.
