West Point, Kentucky
by JREllison
The Ohio River crowdes against the hills as the valley narrows at West Point. This little town has a real place in the history of Kentucky. In the early 1800's flat boats set out from here to carry goods down river to New Orleans, one of the flat boaters was Thomas Lincoln, Abraham Lincoln's father.
During the Civil W#ar years West Point became a major Union supply depot and the headquarters for General Sherman's army.
West Point is located on the Banks of the Ohio River about 20 miles down stream from Louisville on US hwy 31W.
Voted Best Sushi in Louisville
by leeludalas about Sapporo
Sapporo on Bardstown Road offers sushi as well as an extensive Japanese menu. The atmosphere is upbeat, offering a sushi bar, table service, as well as hibachi grills. The sushi is good- very fresh yellowtail and salmon. They have other cooked dishes for those not into sushi. Modern atmosphere, semi "industrial" decor with neon, it's usually pretty crowded. Try the spicy green mussels or the wasabi shumai for appetizers. Voted "Best Sushi in Louisville" by LEO. tuna tataki, salmon sushi, dynamite
W.W. Cousin's
by dzni about W.W. Cousin's
This is a pretty informal restaurant, where you actually order your meal at the counter and then take a seat, but not quite a fast-food joint. Anyway, take your burger and load it up with whatever toppings you want from the bar! Pretty tasty overall. Although, there used to be a similar-type place near me that was much better and I'm sure I made it there as often as I could!! Sadly, that place went out of business to make way for a chain, yet good steakhouse, Lone Star. I digress....

If you have kids along, you might want to appease their restless natures by taking them to The Park. Located on Shelbyville Road close to the Gene Snyder, The Park has putt-putt, go carts, and bumper boats. It's fun, even for the older kids.
Not too expensive to play, and a decently designed coarse, even though, to the trained observer, the irrigation is a bit sloppy. (I worked in irrigation for a while...)
