Fort Duffield: Civil War Earthen Fort
by JREllison
Take US 31W South out of Louisville to West Point, about 20 miles, as you pass out of West Point watch for the sigh to Fort Duffield on the left hand side of the road. The Fort was created by General Sherman in 1861 to protect the Union supply at West Point and to keep the Confederates from railing Louisville. The short paved road from US 31W leads to a parking lot and the trail head to the fort. Fort Duffield overlooks the Ohio River and was the perfect place to install the Union Cannon to control the river. The hike from the parking lot to the fort is about 1/4 mile up a fairly steep grade, take your time, the trail is paved and the view and fort at the top are worth the hike.

Ramsi's offers many dishes from around the world
by leeludalas about Ramsi's Cafe on the World
Ramsi's is always crowded- and for good reason! There menu offers everything from bruschetta to falafel. The tables are a bit crowded together in the front room. Luckily, Ramsi's recently expanded to include a new indoor space and patio. I have more than one!
One of my favorites is Shivakumar- pineapple, snap peas, carrots and crispy chicken in curry sauce over rice.
Also good- Mezze- a Mediterranean style platter which includes olives, Baba Ganoush, Hummus, Pita Bread, Peppers and Falafel.
La Bamba

Well, that's what they're known for... Burrito's as Big as Your Head. Although particularly unhealthy and leaving certain Mexican aftereffects, the food is very tasty in my opinion. burrito as big as your head
Louisville Glassworks
by Joseph69
At the Louisville Glassworks, you may purchase a wide selection of glass ornaments (or anything that you can imagine really), or do what we did, and we created our own glass "bubble". We could select our own colours also, but you need to wait at least around 24 hours to pick it up to allow it to settle. All this cost $40.00.
It was extremely hot inside the area where the glass is made, so it was a relief we were there in the winter as we would stick our heads outside of the door to cool off whilst we waited for each of our turns to blow the glass.
Falls of the Ohio State Park
by dzni
Ok, this is actually just across the river in Indiana, but check it out anyway. There's a large fossil bed on the river, and you can of course see the Falls of the Ohio... which is a small waterfall/rapids on the river. They had to build a set of locks on the other side of the river to allow ships to go through. There's also some small hiking here too along the river. Also, at the falls and just down a little, it affords a nice view of the Louisville skyline, especially on a clear night.
