"Shopping hub of Fort Polk"

As anyone who has ever been to Fort Polk Louisiana can tell you there is a very limited amount of things to do in the Leesville area, and shopping is nonexistant. Thankfully Alexandria is about 50 miles away. Alexandria is bursting with restarants and shopping outlets. They have opened several really nice shopping complexs out on McCarther Drive, which extends behind the center at the light and around to The Alexandria Mall.
It also has a zoo, recreation park and airport. No to mention some truely great festivals....

"The truth about the bad rap"

I have recently read a lot of hype about Alexandria being unsafe. I would disagree... I have been visiting Alex biweekly for about six months and have found no evidence supporting any claim that it is a dangerous city. I have found most residents to be freindly and helpful. They love their city and are working hard to restore it to fromer glory. And snaps to them.
But in honest fairness to the people who have felt insucure here there are several residental areas that looks to have seen better days. Some shops are located in areas that can appear shifty but I can tell you that in my experiance it is really a nice place.
