Not everyone in Louisiana...

Not everyone in Louisiana knows French or lives in the swamp. Baton Rougians speak suprisingly accent-less American English, especailly compared to New Orleanians (they sound like New Yorkers) or to North Louisianians (they just sound country).
A couple of tips regarding dining...these are based on my experience with out-of-town guests...
You usually leave payment at your table at restaurants.
Grits are a breakfast food. You can't just have one (I know someone who, when ordering breakfast added, 'and one grit, please). It's like a grain.
If you hear someone ask you if you want 'bold' crawfish or shrimp, they are saying boiled. Say yes.
My Office... not that anyone...

My Office... not that anyone in their right mind would want to come for a visit (into a wastewater lab, yeah right!). But we have fun. Here, Aubry and I strike a pose after going to graduation for our friends Jennifer and Stephen.

This joint has become a great place to eat around LSU... dining can take as little or as long as you like. I like to hit the Illegal Burrito for lunch, but it is also open for dinner. And as of summer 2002 it is not Illegal to buy a beer with your burrito (they got their liquor licsense). Just remember, if you order the Illegal Burrito (all 3 pounds of it) you aren't supposed to eat it with a fork - that's illegal! The Burrito in a Bowl (because I'm a girl! - the Illegal Burrito's target audience, I am convinced, for the Burrito in a Bowl is the ladies, because honestly, their burritos are just to big to handle).
Another thing I love about the Illegal Burrito - all their prices include tax. It's like a little slice of Germany with a South of the Border twist!

BREC Baton Rouge Zoo - What I like best about the Baton Rouge Zoo is that is is big enough to have a great time yet not so big that you get lost in the crowd. The animals have life-like environments and there is a lot of room for the zoo to expand.I know you will have a great time here also.
