We here in Louisiana are of a friendly nature. We NEVER meet a stranger! People you have never met before will say hello to you as you walk by them on the street, in the store, where ever! Some will even start up a conversation with you! So dont be surprised if you find your self talking to a complete stranger and he talks to you like he has known you for years!
Mall of Louisiana
by SeaBreezeUSA
You must see the Mall of Louisiana off I-10 and Bluebonnet Blvd. For your enjoyment are 155 stores and eateries, a food court and carousel at what is described as the largest new mall in the Southeast. It is a site worth seeing!!
It is located at 6401 Bluebonnet Blvd, Baton Rouge.
Watch out for the Hurricanes!
by ABL1958 about Copeland's
Again, as with JAlexanders, the ambience was cozy, warm, pleasant, romantic with soft lighting. One could dress casually or dress 'up' and still feel at home. The service was excellent and prompt. Everywhere I went here the people seemed to be happy with what they were doing.....a nice treat! We started our meal with a 'Hurricane'---a cocktail known as a best seller in the restaurant that originated it: 'Pat O'Brien's' (see my New Orleans page). Let me tell you...it packs a punch lol. We followed that with a shrimp and crab gumbo soup which was spicey and delicious. We then ordered Grilled Red Snapper (am I right, Paul?) with your choice of sauces....mine was delicate, creamy and delightful. With that came warm, thick, flaky biscuits and red-skinned mashed potatoes and vegetables...all of this was out of this world...so nicely cooked and presented! It was one of the most enjoyable meals I had in Baton Rouge.
LSU football game
by laruna
If you are around in the right season, take some time off and go to a football game. The whole campus wears a festive look with tailgating parties and crrawfish boils all around. Tiger Stadium itself has been ranked as having one of the best atmospheres in college football, it is a great experience!
Statues
by keeweechic
Large statues border the stairs. On the east side are the “The Patriots” - an armored soldier and the mourners of a warrior slain in battle. On the west side are “The Pioneers” – these were men and women of courage who shaped Louisiana out of the wilderness.
