Ice Gators ?
Lafayette, known for its food, humidity, culture, and... ice hockey? While visiting around five years ago, Some friends gave me a call...."Why don't y'all get ready and we'll come pick you up for an ice gata's match" "What" "Da' Ice gatas, man you been up there dat' long- da' hockey team." What I thought was a joke turned out to be true, Lafayette has an arena hockey team... and they call themselves the Ice Gators....and the mascot is an ice skating alligator. You bet I was there. It began to make sense, it is a sport that is linked to the acadians french canadian heritage, fills a void in the sport seasons, is uber violent, and they sell liquor in the stadium. (You heard me right) The fans were wild, and the stadium rules make for some low attention span-I'm too drunk to pay attention to the low scoring games improbable.
