Travel Tips for Lafayette
You have to come to Lafayette...
by GregTLA
You have to come to Lafayette during one of the many outdoor festivals. My favorite is Festival International which takes place the last week in April. Musicians, dancers and artists from many foreign countries come to Lafayette where they perform for free. Usually the performers are from the French, Spanish or Portuguese speaking areas of Africa, the Caribbean, Central and South America and Europe. Also lots of local Cajun and Zydeco music. Lots of food, beer, dancing and people watching! I love winter in Lafayette. One day it could be 70 degrees Fahrenheit (21 degrees Celsius)and you are having a cook-out by the pool. The next day it could be 40 degrees and you can light a fire in the fireplace. It goes back and forth all winter long. Winters are mild and wild! So much to do and not get all sweaty!
Best Burgers in Lafayette
by larsy about Southside Bakery
The Southside Bakery has the best burgers in Lafayette, hands down. They recently took tops in Lafayette, beating the longtime favorite Judice Inn. Their burgers are spicy and their pastries are not to be missed. I plan on getting one next time I am back in my hometown.
Cajun Country!

"Home of Jmill42's Dad"
With a booming college nightlife and the oil industry, Lafayette is a town on the move.... not quite sure where, but on the move ;-)
With its position between Lake Charles and Baton Rouge, and less than 2 hour drive time to New Orleans, Lafayette is in a great central position. The former USL (now U of L at Lafayette) has a good nursing program and is generally considered an above average institution.
