Very Disappointing
My husband and I upgraded to the golf package for the weekend and to check it out as a possible destination for a couples group trip. The outside is beautiful, but the rooms are not maintained - not very clean. The air conditioner kept us awake all night. The worst part was the lack of customer service. Most "resorts" are very accommodating. This one is not. We asked for a late check-out time since we were playing golf in 100+ temps and we had a four hour drive home. We were told NO - they were booked and could not do that. The building we were in was virtually empty. I also checked on-line and they had vacancies. After negotiating with them (us calling THEM back), we were finally told that Ms. Deb, the head of housekeeping, makes that decision and she said she would "let us check out an hour later if we had all of our stuff ready so that housekeeping could clean around us. We moved our tee-time up to 7:50 so that we could get through and get out. When we finished our round, there was not a housecleaner in site of that building.
The golf course is nice, but does not follow their own rules. The service book stated collared shirts only and no demim. We had a very slow wait behind 5 young guys with tank tops and baggy pants playing with only three sets of clubs. It was extremely frustrating.
I can't imagine that the owners would not protect their investment by having a true manager in charge - instead of young people and the housekeeper! We had talked up a group golf trip for the fall, but I would not recommend this place at all. For the cost, we have many other choices within a four-hour radius.
It's a shame. It really could be an extraordinary place.
