Great Place for the Single Girl

I usually travel alone and look for a place where I can feel safe.
Patrick went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and safety. He not only gave me a lift into town one day, he took the time to point out places of interest, good restaurants, and places to avoid. He was an attentive and caring host and made my stay there excellent! And just in case I forgot to mention, the breakfasts were superb! Thank you, Patrick, for a truly memorable experience.
Ashton's B&B is the place to be

Ashton's Bed & Breakfast took my breath away. It was my first experience at a B&B. Patrick and Karma welcomed us (we had a total of 7 ladies on our trip) with open arms even when we arrived later than expected. The 3 rooms we stayed in were absolutely beautiful. We loved the claw foot tubs. We lacked for nothing. The breakfasts were exceptional and Patrick even shared his recipes. The grounds around Ashton's were cozy and inviting. We loved sitting on the front porch and hearing the fountain's relaxing sound. We plan to return again and would recommend anyone visiting New Orleans to stay at Ashton's. It definitely beats staying at a traditional hotel. Thanks Patrick and Karma!!
Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous! April 2004

What a find! Ashton's is one of the best B&Bs we have ever stayed in.
Not only was the location ideal for exploring New Orleans, the owners did everything they could to make our stay a great one - from the gourmet breakfast (this guy is a Chef!) to the dinner and touring recommendations. The house and property are beautiful and our room was perfect. Complimentary Aveda toiletries just added magic to the stay (and my bath!)
weekend in New Orleans
by A TripAdvisor Member
This was our first trip to New Orleans, but hopefully won't be our last. We had found Ashtons Bed and Breakfast on the web, and from the reviews, it sounded perfect, and it was. The house is beautiful, with an amazing, huge oak tree in the back garden. Our room was lovely, with nice touches like chocolates by the bed and bathrobes. Our room had a wonderful jet bathtub as well..loved using it after walking around the French Quarter. Breakfast was delicious! Eggs in pastry with Creole tomato sauce and creamy grits...yum. The owners (Patrick and Karma Ashton) made us feel welcome at once and gave us hints about things to do, see and eat. A terrific experience and hopefully our next stay will be longer than a couple days!
Wonderful bed and breakfast experience!

My wife and I spent a lovely weekend at Ashton's B/B during the jazz festival this year. We were able to walk to the festival and it was a short cab ride to the French Quarter. The old house was wonderfully restored. Our rooms were very nice. The food was wonderful. Every detail was attended to. We woud highly recommend it and plan to stay there again when we travel to New Orleans.
New orleans gem

Karma and Patirck's B&B is a gem of a place! In a genrtifying neighborhood, this historic house has beautiful rooms with high ceilings and beautiful furnishings. Our hosts gave flawless advice about restaurants and seemed to be very easily able to judge which of their guests would like which restaurants. They were helpful about sightseeing as well and even went above and beyond to give guests rides on occasion to various parts of town. The breakfasts were wonderful and oh so New Orleans! We most highly recommend it!
Great Location for Jazz Fest

For New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Fetival fans, Ashton's is ideally situated. You can walk there, and it is close enough to the French Quarter to walk there, too. Ashton's is friendly, lovely, has a beautiful backyard and great breakfasts. I recommend it highly.
I keep going back....

I have been attending the New Orlean's Jass Fest for 7 consecutive years, and the last 5 have been at the Ashton's Bed and Breakfast. The house is spectacular and each room is unique and beautifully decorated. Karma and Patrick are warm and caring owners who go out of their way to accommodate your needs. Patrick loves to cook, and he prepares a grand breakfast each morning.
As long as there is jazz in New Orleans, I will continue to stay with the Ashton's!
Perfect for Jazzfest
by A TripAdvisor Member
Ashton's B&B is lovely, a traditional New Orleans house with front veranda & back garden & large rooms with high ceilings & fireplaces. Patrick & Karma are gracious hosts, very welcoming. The beds are comfortable & the breakfast delicious. Best of all, it's only 5-10 minutes walk to the Jazzfest grounds so you can skip the lines for taxis! I highly recommend it & will be visiting again.
Enjoyed our stay

If you are seeking a thoroughly enjoyable B&B experience, Ashton’s is the place to stay in New Orleans! Our visit spanned April 26-30. We had a wonderful time. Patrick and Karma are gracious hosts. They provided excellent guidance regarding places to eat, things to do, and how to get there. The mansion is located in a quiet neighborhood on the beautiful tree-lined Esplanade, close to the attractions downtown, but not too close. Catch a bus or cab in front of the home for a short ride to the French Quarter. The rooms are clean and comfortable, decorated tastefully in Victorian style. We enjoyed the creative and varied breakfasts prepared by Patrick. Be sure to spend some time relaxing at a table in the back yard under the magnificent old oak tree. And in the evening, after a busy day, be sure to visit the dining room and check out the treats that have been set out for guests. We look forward to staying at Ashton’s the next time we visit New Orleans!

New Orleans in late January
by Amu_82
Hi,
I am thinking of visitng New Orleans in the month on January 2010 with a group of friends.
How bad will be the cold?
Is it a good destination for winter? Any ideas on places to visit?
Thanks.
:)

The weather in January is cold, but hardly ever freezing. So it basically depends on what kind of weather you're used to. There are several weather websites you can consult for historical temperatures in New Orleans.
