More about Elysian Fields Inn

Don't Miss This Great Stay and Hospitality!!!

by A TripAdvisor Member

Elysian Fields is the best B and B my husband and I have experienced.
We felt very comfortable here. Gregg and Sal were so friendly and went out of their way to be accomodating and helpful. The breakfasts were fantastic! The inn is located in the Marigny which is very convenient to the French Quarter. We walked this neighborhood at all hours of the day. As long as you use common sense, this is a safe and interesting neighborhood to stay in. The inn also had easy access to the street car line. This will be the only place that we stay if we make our way back to the Big Easy! This inn has everything you could want.

Great experience

by A TripAdvisor Member

Let me start by saying that we are not B&B people. Our past experiences left us swearing never again - we just don't like the idea of staying in a stranger's home. But friends had stayed here multiple times and insisted we give it a try. We ended up loving our stay. The place is large and spread out enough to be considered an inn or boutique hotel rather than a more typical B&B. I didn't feel like we were on top of the other guests or just renting a room from the owners. Privacy was an option. The location was great, funky but in a good way, with lots of restaurants along the way to the French Quarter (just a few blocks away). The owners couldn't have been nicer or more helpful.

Our favorite B&B yet!

by TripAdvisor Member duomogal

Our favorite B&B experience ever! Sal and Gregg have created the perfect blend of contemporary comfort and Southern hospitality in their beautiful inn. We enjoyed a wonderful four-night stay, and could not have been happier. Sal was a charming host, and we so appreciated the time he took to orient us to New Orleans, providing a list of their favorite restaurants and music-spots. Gregg's breakfast-to-order was a welcome treat each morning, and our leisurely breakfasts on the veranda were the perfect start to each day. Rooms were beautifully appointed, and the overall decor is modern, elegant, and comfortable. The inn is wonderfully located -- away from the noise of the French Quarter, but only a ten minute walk to enjoy all that it has to offer. I dream from time-to-time of trading in my current life to become a B&B owner, and now I have one to emulate! Thanks so much for a wonderful stay.

The only place to stay in New Orleans

by A TripAdvisor Member

Elysian Fields was our first B&B experience and it was wonderful!!!! With the fabulous breakfasts, beautiful rooms and great location, this is the best choice of where to stay when you're in New Orleans. Sal and Greg were very welcoming and took time to speak with us every day to make sure that we were comfortable, knew the best way to get to all the places we were going and knew the best places to see and things to do. I'll never forget my wonderful vacation in New Orleans made even more memorable by the stay at Elysian Fields.

How all B&B should be!

by TripAdvisor Member gunnercade

Kudos to Sal and Gregg for achieving perfection in their business. They are friendly, hospitable, helpful, and make you feel welcome without smothering you. The inn is a beautiful mansion, extraordinarily well kept, spotless, and furnished with taste. It is close to the French Quarter: you can walk there, take a streetcar, or (especially at night) hop on a cab for a short ride.
We were in a guestroom, and were very pleased by how nice and quiet it was. The room has AC (a bit on the cool side, but a pleasant change from the sweltering heat!), a TV, VCR, DVD and stereo system, all the closet space you may need, and a nice bathroom. The common room is luminous and has a computer, a DVD library, and a small library as well. Breakfast is made to order, it is pretty much the only healthy food we had in NO, and it is delicious. Reasonable rates make this THE place to stay in NO, as far as we are concerned. We hope to be back soon and enjoy Sal and Gregg's wonderful hospitality.

Very relaxing!

My husband and I visited New Orleans for the first time and, after reading the reviews on tripadvisor, decided to stay at Elysian Fields. And ... we were very happy that we did. The hosts (Sal and Gregg) were wonderful and made us feel totally at home. They helped us make tour arrangements and gave advice on things to do in New Orleans. The house has been beautifully re-done and the breakfasts were amazing. After a busy day / evening exploring New Orleans, we really appreciated unwinding at the B&B. I was a little worried about whether it would be too far from the French Quarter but it was the perfect distance away (about a 10 minute walk). We would highly recommend this B&B!!

All the reviews are true!

All the 5 star reviews here on tripadvisor.com are true! I don't think a cleaner, quieter, friendlier and just all around nicer B&B exists. The food is great as well... one of the breakfast choices was a casserole style omelette and it was honestly the best omelette I've ever tasted. The best!

Sal & Gregg are tops!

by A TripAdvisor Member

So delighted to see Sal and Gregg duly praised in reviews here for all they've achieved with Elysian Fields Inn. After our stay in March, 2004, we agree 100%. We've enjoyed pleasurable B&B vacations in Narragansett, RI; San Antonio, TX; Prince Edward County, Ont.; and within OH, but Elysian Fields was best of all because of the unsurpassed attention to details.

We're happily reminded of Gregg's wonderful breakfasts whenever we enjoy sweet potato pancakes at home. Among the numerous tips the guys shared with us was that we could buy the Bruce Foods mix at the market across the street or in bulk online.

Highly Recommended!

When we chose to stay at Elysian Fields Inn for our first trip to New Orleans, we were a little bit worried that it was too good to be true. I couldn't find a negative review and it seemed to have a lot of amenities and a good location and was still within our budget. However, once we got there we found out that everything we had heard was true. Sal and Gregg were very friendly and incredibly helpful. If you had any questions or requests they were more than accomodating. It was a very short walk to the French Quarter (about 10 minutes) and the neighborhood was quiet. The rooms were very comfortable and beautifully furnished. The rooms were cleaned every day and were kept at a very comfortable temperature. The breakfasts Gregg and Sal served were wonderful and throughout the week we were there they served such things as strawberry stuffed french toast (my favorite!), sweet potato pancakes, frittatas, and blueberry pancakes. My only regret is that I didn't get any of the recipes! We were very happy with our stay at Elysian Fields Inn and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting New Orleans!
