Close to convention center but not worth it
I chose Hampton inn and Suites 1 year prior to my reservation for a major convention in New Orleans. I chose the hotel based on previous stays in other areas. I was extremely disappointed when I arrived for my reservation today and found that they had given away my double bed room. I was offered 1 free night, but we are staying 6 nights in a hotel we did not reserve. Then when we arrived in the king room it smelled like smoke and they refused to move us. This will be my last stay here. We could have reserved a hotel in any of the surrounding areas, but I chose this one because of its reputation. Furthermore, I had a suitcase that I could not open. When i called the front desk they said they couldn't help me. I requested that a maintenance man come and it took over 40 minutes. After going to the lobby, they called maintenance again. When he came, he told me they did have the necessary tool to open the luggage, but the hotel staff did not let him know what we needed. THis hotel is not accommodating.
