Beware Harrah's casino parking garage

Harrah's Casino offered us a free room at one of their sister hotels for a night, the Hilton Riverside. We stayed at the sister hotel On 12/21/09, but parked in the Harrah's Casino Parking Garage. During the night our vehicle was stolen out of their parking garage even though I still had my parking ticket and video cameras were present around the garage. Harrah's response: "we are not liable for spontaneous criminal activity at our garage. If you would have parked via valet parking we would have been liable”. However Harrah's does not offer valet parking.

Beware of the parking garage. It is unsafe. After this happened we are hearing of other instances of vehicle theft in the garage. The garage is unsafe. I would still like to know how they made it passed the exit gate and out the garage without a parking ticket.

Great Location in New Orleans

We always have great service at Harrah's hotel even though we are usually staying compliments of the casino. The rooms are very nice with a large bathroom and comfortable beds. There is no pool, but it isn't one of the activities we would normally do in NO...so we are good with it.

Unique Quality: Great location next to the French Quarter.

Great Location!

Beautiful hotel with beautiful rooms. I've stayed here several times, but have never paid - I was comped by the casino. Room cost $70-120 based on website. Nice bar downstairs with live Jazz nightly. Walking distance to Harrah's Casino and the French Quarter. Security measures are appreciated (need room key to operate elevators). Rooms feel very luxurious, and the upper rooms have stunning views of the city and/or Mississippi River.

Unique Quality: Live Jazz nightly in lounge downstairs. Stunning views of the city from the upper level rooms. Excellent location - walking distance from French Quarter, and faces the Uptown Mardi Gras parade route.

Great Hotel/one serious issue

Stayed there four or five times in last 16 months, all but one time room was "comp" because of our casino play. It is an awesome hotel for New Orleans and we loved it until:
Earlier this year we staggered back to the hotel from Pat O's and when we went to get on the elevator a clerk stopped us and said the elevators were down and would be about ten minutes to fix. Well 45 minutes later a crowd of tired tourists had gathered (it was about 1 in the morning) and we started asking "can we just take the stairs". We were told, "absolutley not!", then a few minutes after that a clerk took a test ride and declared the elevator safe. So, having waited the longest, about 1-1/2 hours at this point, we pushed our way onto the elevator. half way to our room the elevator stopped dead and all the lights went out. We were stuck for about ten minutes and the power came back on. Instead of continuing to our floor we were taken back to the lobby. Now the crowd was getting angry and a night manager came out and said "all your rooms will be comped", well, this was the one time we had actually paid for the room and we asked the guy if we could get that from him in writing and he laughed and said "NO". Needless to say the next day we checked out and we warn everyone we can to watch out for getting stuck in elevator and getting lied to by the managers! We were charged for the room and the desk clerks in the morning just said "sorry for any inconvenience". They thought at first we were kidding about the incident and tried to say they didn't know anything about it! It had affected about 2 dozen guests!

Unique Quality: Very nice accomodations, great views

Best Hotel Experience EVER!!!

From the moment I stepped out of the airport shuttle, I knew this was a special place. The hotel was recently remodeled after Katrina and is absolutely lovely inside. I had the regular "luxury" type room on the 6th floor. Harrah's comped me 2 nights free but the regular price is $129-$249 a night, as I recall.

A bellman met me right when I hit the ground and asked if i wanted help. We immediately struck up a conversation about auto racing like we had known each other for life. Check-in was quick and friendly. Everyone on the staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly throughout my stay. Another bellman, who brought my suitcase up to the room, spent 10 minutes or so going over the features of the room and there are many...

~King size extra thick comfy bed with lots of pillows-even two body pillows
~Large flat screen TV with Hi Def, free cable and pay movies
~a HUGE bath tub, big enough for 2 adults to soak in-stacked
~separate glass shower with massaging shower head
~euro style WC for the toilet
~coffee maker!!!!
~lots of high quality soaps, shampoo and conditioner
~two phones, room service ready!
~fresh air machine
~marble table, comfy sofa and chair
~internet access

Room service was high but luckily my rewards points covered it. A club sandwich was $16. 3 beers, 2 bags of chips, a pretzel, a can of mixed nuts and a pint of Ben & Jerry's ran $30. Total $60 with tax and gratuity...Ouch!!

Bottom line: Finest room I've ever stayed in. I can't wait to go back!!

Unique Quality: A True 4 star hotel. You simply must stay here once if you get the opportunity. A beautiful and comfortable hotel with a staff that is always present to help you in any way possible!

Great Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member Paris_lane

This is a great hotel! Best Beds, plenty of room, all the comforts you need. 24 Hour room service and best of all they were the nicest people all the way around. We were very satisfied and had a great time at the Hotel, Casino and French Quarter. The location is great for getting to all the French Quarter sights. We were there on the first weekend of Mardi Gras and with it as busy as it was no one at the Hotel or the Casino missed a beat on service. We have stayed at many other hotels in New Orleans and would return to this one first.

Loved the new hotel at Harrah's !

by TripAdvisor Member Mocha31603

Stayed Feb. 11, 2007. Beautiful hotel - rooms are comparable to some of the nice ones in Vegas. Great comfortable beds, bathroom had 2 person tub and separate glass shower. Room service was excellent. Got the Angus Burger - was big enough for 2 and hard to take a normal bite because it was so thick; also ordered the 14 piece buffalo wings which were the entire wing and overflowed the plate.....excellent ! Check in was nice because although we were early, they took my cell number and called when the room was ready. Check out was a breeze. As nice as the rooms are...they should include a stocked bar - but the fridge was empty. Definitely will stay here next trip !

WHAT A NIGHTMARE...

by TripAdvisor Member ALLTRAVEL2007

We stayed at this hotel basically out of necessity, since we were in town for a convention with many hotels booked. Nonetheless, the pictures and previous reviews seemed flattering, with prices that were parallel to many other hotels in the area (averaging $550/night during our stay).

The lobby is beautiful and packed with more staff than imagineable, most of whom are very cordial. Above the lobby, however, is where the problems begin. We checked in to a dirty room, with robes, menus, remote control, pens, etc. missing and with an unidentified white powder covering all surfaces of the bedside stand and desk...Given that this is new orleans, my assumption was that it was powdered sugar from beignets, but you never know. It took three phone calls to correct this with marginal results.

That was only the beginning. The rooms are quite possibly the loudest I have ever experienced. We heard every single personal act happening in our neighbors' bathroom as though they were standing in our room. Not pleasant, I can assure you. The staff shout at each other up and down the halls, screaming constantly. Room service trays litter the halls, with breakfast trays finallly cleared around 5 PM--the hall smelled of old bananas and syrup all day long. Requests to move these accomplished nothing.

We had to cancel our suite at the Soniat House due to lack of accommodations for our last night. We should have stayed there and flown back early. This hotel is nothing like the Ritz, Borgata or any other higher level comparisons made in previous reviews.

To top it off, we were double-charged for our stay with a grand total of almost $4000 for three nights. So far it has taken 5 calls with no resolution. Be extremely careful when dealing with this establishment and this staff. Clearly there are much better hotels with staff who understand the meaning of excellent service.
