    John/Dewey Makes the Best Muffins

    by

La Maison Marigny Bed & Breakfast is a restored, beautifully decorated 1898 building on the edge of the French Quarter. There are four bedrooms. three upstairs and one downstairs. Each has a private bath, and all are furnished with antiques.

The house is air conditioned, with ceiling fans in all the rooms. Guests also have use of a cheerful sunroom with wicker furniture, and a brick courtyard.

The location is perfect: you can walk to the French Quarter, the jazz clubs in the Faubourg Marigny, and the French Market.

And all this for less than you'd pay at a Quality Inn.

Unique Quality: The most outstanding quality of La Maison Marigny is the welcome you receive from your hosts, John Ramsey and Dewey Donihoo, who are friendly, knowledgeable, and great fun to be around. They provide you with maps and information on restaurants, attractions, and tours, and are happy to make any arrangements for you.

This place is a home away from home! When you arrive, your state or country's flag is flying at the front of the building, and every effort is made to make you comfortable. There are hair dryers and shampoo and bath gel dispensers in the bathrooms, so you don't even need to pack those items, and up-to-date tourist books about New Orleans in all the rooms.
Each guest room is unique, with new linens and fabrics and European duvets.

And did I mention the wonderful Continental breakfasts? Each morning you're offered fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, juice, and coffee, and John and Dewey compete with each other to see who can bake the best muffins (I must admit that John's raspberry -chocolate chip muffins are the front-runner in my book).

We've been guests here multiple times, and we wouldn't think of staying anywhere else in New Orleans.

A jewel on Bourbon Street

The Maison Marigny is a perfect place to stay in the Crescent City.
Good location, quiet, beautiful rooms and 2 innkeepers who are welcoming and helpful without hovering. Our balcony room was perfect, the courtyard with its' fountain was a great place for eating John's delicious scones and the sitting room couch offered up a lovely place for a quick afternoon nap. The extensive history/guide to N.O. that they provided was very helpful and their restaurant hints were right on. Highly Recommended!

What a great place to spend some time in the BIG EASY! In the heart of the action yet far enough far away from the convention center to enjoy yourself! Great recommendations from the owners for tremendous dinning & touring experiences!

Warm, friendly, beautiful - with a great location

by TripAdvisor Member AnnikaSjoberg

We had such a great time at this nice little place in the heart of New Orleans. The rooms are very nicely decorated, the breakfast room right next to a small garden gives you a feeling of being at home (a very nice home)! I guess the place's charm has a lot to do with it's owners and it's host John. He is a really great host who takes care of every guest in a very special way. He knows everything you need and want to know about New Orleans and what to do when you are around. Our two kids relly loved him - and still talk about the days spent in New Orleans and at John's place! We would love to come back! Annika Sj?berg, Stockholm, Sweden

Charming and friendly

Charming B&B, Great hosts with lots of suggestions for enjoying th French Quarter. Everything is within walking distance. Would definitely stay here again. Breakfast is modest, but who needs breakfast when you have Cafe Du Monde a short walk away.

Like home, but better!

I often review tripadvisor.com before traveling and am pleased to say that, once again, my fellow travelers have hit the nail on the head. La Maison is a wonderful little B&B. Very small and intimate with GORGEOUS bedding and comfy rooms. I also like the neighborhood as it feels more residential than the busy parts of the French Qtr (near Canal Street).
John has the B&B set up for total privacy. He's around enough to answer questions and give suggestions (and even give travel advice for different cities!) but not so much that a guest can feel like they are being "hovered over." A+++

Be sure to walk one block away to Port of Call for fantastic burgers!

Fantastic!

Perfect B&B Experience

by A TripAdvisor Member

I have worked in two 5 Star Hotels as Director of Human Resources and currently travel several times a year for business and pleasure. With the hotel background I feel I have high expectations as well as a critical eye.La Maison Marigny has never disappointed me in any way. We are always greeted warmly and genuinely and John Ramsy, owner, remembers our specific preferences. La Maison Marigny has an atmosphere that is elegent, comfortable and very New Orleans. The breakfasts are varied and interesting and can be enjoyed inside or in the outdoor patio.John's knowledge of the area makes each trip unique. He is current on restaurants, events and the fascinating history of New Orleans which is described in a book in each room.I highly recommend La Maison Marigny for the perfect New Orleans experience.

Great B&B on the edge of the French Quarter

We spent last weekend in New Orleans, attending the French Quarter Festival. We had a wonderful stay at La Maison Marigny. Beautiful room, in the back on the second floor. John, the owner, is wonderful. Great service. Nice breakfast. I enjoyed having internet access. Nothing but good things to say about the place.
