In honor of Jackson
by cmarsek
There are few cities in the United States that have as much to see on a leisurely strolls through the streets. In the battle against the British, General Andrew Jackson defeated the British at New Orleans. Today there is a large statue of Andrew Jackson on a horse that is reared up on its hind legs in the victorious position. I loved the sights and scenes on the streets on New Orleans!

French Quarter. A very spesial place. Famous for restaurants and atmosphere. A must. Preservation Hall is a small jazzclub with very good performers. The place where Louis Amstrong started. Very primitive inside, but the people that use to play there is among the best jazz players around. I can still feel the shivering inside when I hear one of the tunes on air.
Riverwalk is a good place to look out on Missisipi. Big wheels keep on rolling....oh yeah!

This is a picture of the old St. Louis Hotel. This used to be where the slave exchange was, and if you look in the stone at the top of the picture, you can still see part of the sign. The part of the building that had the word 'slave' on it is now gone, and in its place is an alley called 'Exchange Place.'
