Louisiana will split one of these days!
by yankee_doodle
If you've a call to visit Louisiana, please go to the Cajun areas, New Orleans, or anything south of I-10.
The vast difference between the northern and southern portions of the state are immense. I wont say it's 'like' two seperate states, it IS two seperate states.

Yeah, but they are both mosquito infested, narrow minded, and have corrupt officials.

I take EXTREME exception to the wonderful state of Louisiana and its friendly people being summed up by:
".... mosquito infested, narrow minded, and have corrupt officials."
If you had a bad experience there, I apologize personally, but this is an extremely unfair and untrue statement.
Well, we do get our mosquitos though....

Take all the offense you want John, as a matter of fact take everything you want from Louisiana. You've already acquiesced on the bugs. Ever here of a corrupt governor or other politician from Louisiana? NO?!?! How about EWE, any of the Long's, or maybe Duke? Have you ever seen or heard of a KKK showing, with local support in Shreveport, Alexandria, Ruston, Monroe, or even Kenner for that matter. Come on John get the blinders off. I know generalizations are tough, especially on the innocent and for that I truly am regretful, but they become ubiquitous for a reason, they are prevalent.

Oh, yes California is exempt from human fraility. No riots, no gangs, no loss of electrical power, no police corruption, police brutality, shoplifters or incarcerated elected officials. California has no bugs, or narrow minded people! Gee, if you are soooooo good why even participate in a little bit of travel, stay home and enjoy California.

Travel Tips for Shreveport
Touchstone Wildlife & Art Museum
by vigi
We then stop by the Touchstone Wildlife & Art Museum, located a short distance east of Bossier City. This museum features an unbelievable collection of over 1,000 mounted animals from around the world. Visitors can watch the painting and taxidermy of dioramas that are not yet finished. It also displays American Indian artifacts and memorabilia from the Civil War and World Wars I and II. How amazing this is started by individual collectors, not any government own museum! And where do they get the animals? Zoo donate them when they die.
Fishing in the Area
by keeweechic
The lakes in the Shreveport area are stocked with Florida bass. The Red River has become one of the most popular fishing spots in the region which is full of catfish, bas and white perch. Caddo Lake which lies on the Sabine River and Cypress Bayou between Texas and Louisiana has the largemouth bass, catfish, crappie, and white bass.
400 year old trees
by keeweechic
There are trees on this lake that have been ringed at 400 years of age, gracefully draped in Spanish Moss. There are more than 216 species of birds, 47 mammals, 90 reptiles, and 77 species of fish which make their home here.

by IronLenz
like parking lots? what about big-box strip malls?
well, Shreveport has plenty of them! they also have a plethora of empty stroefronts of neat old buildings. coincidence?
great place for a 16-year-old wanting to drink beer OR a stay at home mom spending too much money on bland home furnishings.
i guess i should call this tip "Things NOT to do"
