Refused to honor my prepaid reservation
Do not reserve at this hotel if having your guaranteed room available when you arrive is important to you! We booked a one night stay online (prepaid) a week in advance. When we arrived at 4:30 -- close to check-in and definitely not late -- we were informed that they acknowledged that we had a reservation but they had overbooked and other hotels all over the area also were full. The manager refused to give us our room even though we were not late and we had a prepaid reservation. They said they would send us another comparable hotel that would honor our prepaid reservation. Instead they sent us to a cheaper motel that had fewer stars and lower guest ratings, and our room was dirty, smelly and in serious need of repair. Holiday Inn would never want to be considered comparable to that! We had no other options because we had an event that evening and had no time to search around town after being told that most other places in town were booked. This is the first time I’ve ever written online about a hotel to complain so don’t think I am a chronic complainer. This was unacceptable!
