We check out our hotel at 7.30am (God, it's early!!!) then head directly to Strawn's Eat Shop for breakfast. The food is good with reasonable price. I ordered an omelettes with grits (As Featured in Southern Living Magazine 1994 and 2003!) and it's good. But portion is typical American size, too big for me, I don't usually eat such a big breakfast at home. I don't want to watse food but really could not help leaving 1/3 of the plate thrown away...
Okay I have been here for 16 months, my husband is in the military. If you are coming from a bigger city, and want to do something other than the casinos good luck. Theatre, clubs, etc. are smaller scale. If you are not from a bigger city ;then you'll like it. I live in Bossier...and I do enjoy the Outback steakhouse, but that seems to be the best place to eat here. (Doesn't say much) Great place for family outdoor activity during the warm seasons, but that's about it.
Although most people in Northern Louisiana do not fit the typical mold of Zydeco playing Ragin' Cajuns... Copelands of New Orleans has moved up the charts as a great place to grab a little Cajun soul in the heart of Northern Louisiana.
My fiance and my parents all enjoyed our dinner out at Copelands, however I really can only comment on my meal. I had the warm spinach salad and the gumbo. Both were excellent and are highly recommended! Also try the red beans and rice!
Sci-Port Discovery Center provides an educational and entertaining environment for people of all ages (especially kids, not many adult will visit here alone!! hahaaa). The Center develops a comprehensive view of the world through the interaction hands-on of science and the humanities and serves as a catalyst to encourage lifelong learning. Accomodating IMAX Dome Theater's 60-foot screen. The sights and sounds of each IMAX film put you in the center of the action.
A legendary blues performer who's memorabilia can be seen at the Smithsonian Institute. He was born in 1885. The bronze statue of him was erected on Texas street in the heart of Downtown just down from the courthouse.
