Are there any busses runing from Dallad, Texas to your casino? We used to play twice a week. Since the bussess stopped service to Shreveport and from Dallas, Texas my wife and I haven't been able to go to your casino. How can we get there, we are both in late 70's and early 80's. Can't drive on the road anymore. So that form of transportation leaves us no alternative other than casino busses. Or are their?

Amtrak does a service from downtown airport to downtown shreveport via train and changing to a passenger van in Longview. The service was very easy and clean, takes about 4 hours in all and costs $22.

The bus line to Hollywood Casino in Shreveport is Coach USA. It is a charter bus and leaves at different times from 3 different locations in Dallas. The first stop is at Montfort and LBJ. It leaves at 7:40 and gets there about noon and then leaves at 5:00 and gets back about 8:15 or 8:30. There is supposed to be a night bus that has the hours reversed. . The cost is $10 but when you buy your first $10 worth of coins, you get an extra $10. So the trip is free. The phone number for reservations for this bus is 1-877-450-0005.

In my opinion the best time to visit Shreveport would be during a festival. There are almost 40 festivals and events held here annually so it shouldn't be to difficult to find one around your scheduled vacation. From an eating crawfish festival to a famous Louisiana Mardi Gras Parade there's something for all ages to enjoy. If you can't find the dates of some of these and need more info...email me and I will try to get you what you need. Here's a list of some of the events:

Lunch at Cool Beans

This is definately a MUST-EAT in Shreveport. The mexican food are SO GOOD!!! Cool Beans is a kind of Subway for Mexican-food devotees, but it don't taste like fast food at all. All the ingredients for burrito, taco and salad building are spread out like a punctured pinata. This restaurant is very artsy and eclectic. It offers made to order salads, burritos and more.

Build your own Burrito!

Sarah and I went as a large group to Cool Beans this evening, and enjoyed a build your own burrito experience. We were old pros at this type of food because of places like Chipotle and Freebirds, but this place was as good as it gets in Shreveport.

The food was not as well prepared as some other burrito places, and I did not think it was nearly as good... but this is a fun place to enjoy a meal with friends. You get to add your own ingredients, so the only person to blame is yourself for a bad meal!

Also... I would highly recommend drinking a coke or iced tea there, as Shreveport water does not taste very good!

One of the first things I did was go to the Visitor's Center to get maps and information. I particularly wanted to go to the historic cemetery in downtown Shreveport, and I wanted to know where it was, so Bob stopped and let me out at the visitor's center, and I got information. The people there were extremely helpful.

Even though there are some discontented AF wives living here. Shreveport does have things to do other than gamble.
