There is wildlife all around the Pearl River in Slidell for the River community. Can you imagine getting in your boat and having to steer around alligators?!? And the birds are beautiful, especially the hawks and Blue Herons. Also, the insects are everywhere. Dragonflies are HUGE!
It was really neat watching the alligators swim up to you. Your eyes are like PEELED to the water to look for each ripple. Very intense in a fun way :)

Oh, the guide pointed out these tree knees....ah, I have to find my notes to let you know what the trees were called. Shoot, I forgot!
One of my favorite parts was speeding down the river. It felt so good since it was like 100 degrees and there was no air-conditioning. So shooting down the river was a BLAST. You couldn't hear anyone talk cuz it was loud but it was so nice.
Along the river there is a whole other lifestyle. Some of the houses on there are only accessible by boat. So, it was really amazing to experience the Cajun lifestyle. You start thinking, "I could totally do this." Danger for the free spirits! Cuz the shacks run less than $20,000 to buy. :)
There was a huge bee's nest in the tree. You can see it on the trunk. The guide let us pass around his binoculars to see it. Very neat to see...and a good change from all the gators we were seeing.
