Camping in the middle of it all!

Only one of 2 campgrounds actually in Acadia National Park, Blackwoods is really in the middle of it all, located in the center of the Loop road, though not accessable from it. Reservations are necessary as the campground is quite popular. It costs $20 a night.
Your camping area will have a picnic table and a fire pit. You can get wood all over the island, most people sell it roadside. Often it is pay by the honor system and are about $3 a bundle. We liked to buy it just down the road at the Walls house, they also sold starter wood for 50 cents.
In the summer, there are nearby bathroom facilities, which have electricity and sinks but bring your own soap and towels. There are no showers, but you can find pay showers (make sure you have some quarters!) right outside the campground.
In the winter, camping is free, but there are only pit toilets.
There are no hookups for trailers.

Unique Quality: Quiet hours in the campground are from 10pm to 7am. You might want to keep this in mind if you are planning on being loud late at night.

Blackwoods Campground...

Managed by the National Park Service, this campground has 306 sites and is part of Acadia National Park. $20 per night for a tent site.

Unique Quality: My tent site was less than a five minute walk to the Atlantic Ocean and set in a heavily wooded area of Pine and Birch trees... Beware, there are several large Raccoons that frequent the area (probably because people are feeding them).
