Bath has a Shipbuilding History
"Shipbuilding is its trade"
This trade began in 1743 and has been a critical part of our country's economy and lifeblood of military warships built here. At one time they had 200 companies building ships, and build 5,000 ships since founding. It also had commerce in iron and brass.
"Map of the town area"
The town is an easy walk around, and many 19th century homes and buildings are scattered through the downtown area. The downtown, itself is a good site for what a town form the early 1900's looked like.
"Maritime is Still the Focus"
The maritime Museum is at the end of the town near Bath Iron Works. It is a gathering of buildings to depict wht shipbuilding was like in the time of peak performance.
