More about Austin's Holidae House B&B
We stayed at the Holidae House as an Anniversary/Triathalon visit to Bethel. We felt like we were visiting relatives. Laurence and Marcia are wonderful hosts, the breakfast was lovely, the room was gorgeous/comfortable (#5), we were within walking distance to a lot of shops and restaurants, and a short drive to Grafton Notch State Park (by the way is a must see when visiting Bethel). Next time we stay here we plan to bring our children.
Greatest Weekend Ever!
Marcia and Laurence were the greatest innkeepers. Very attentive to our needs. Our family stayed there for a wedding and we couldn't have asked for a better weekend. Food was excellent. They exceeded our expectations.
Best B&B experince ever!
Lawrence and Marcia were the best! Lawrence did eveything he could to make our stay most enjoyable. The accomodations were outstanding. Morning breakfast was better then a five star restuarant. Friends stayed at another area B&B, once they saw our room and all the extras that Lawrence provided, they want to cancel they're place and move into the Holiday House. It's by far the best stay for your money, add to that the warm and comfortable atmosphere of Austin's Hoildae-House. You can miss with a stay at Austin' Hoildae-House. it will be a most warm and comfortable stay, almost like being with family.

The perfct B&B experience!
Just what a B&B should be--beautifully furnished, homey rooms and an inviting, comfortable sitting room where we enjoyed meeting other guests and relaxing with the people we were traveling with. But the charming attentiveness of our hosts was what made Austin's really extraordinary! And then, there were those amazing breakfasts and the homemade afternoon cookies!!
The best B & B in Bethel
We have just returned from a two week stay in New England. during this time we stayed in seven different B & B's.
Our stay at Austin,s Holidae House was by far the best.
Marcia and Lawrence are the most wonderful hosts that you could wish to meet. Nothing is too much trouble and the attention they give you makes you feel right at home. The breakfasts are wonderful , along with the little extra's they provide.
Examples of these are: Marcia's home made scones which, when we asked if we could take them with us on our hike instead of having them at breakfast, Marcia presented us with a bag full! Wonderful.
Drinks left in the lounge for you to have on return from your evening meal. A favourite of my Husbands especially the night when Lawrence topped up my husbands whisky as " it was a shame to leave what was left in the bottle"
All these extra's along with Marcia and Lawrence's obvious pleasure in looking after you make for a most enjoyable stay.
The final delight was returning from our holiday to find a personalised card from Marcia and Lawrence thanking us for staying with them.
We chose to stay here based on the previous good reviews. I am pleased to say that we were not dissapointed and that if you are staying in Maine look no further.
We're glad we changed B&B's to this one.
We had previously booked into another place in Bethel, and THEN we checked their Trip Advisor rating. We promptly changed to Austin's and are very glad we did. When we arrived, Marcia and Lawrence made us feel very much at home and the house was very comfortable, just like the feeling of putting on a favourite old pair of slippers! The room was comfortable, the breakfasts excellent ( your own choice cooked whilst you wait) and the company very friendly. Lawrence even has en excellent selection of malt Scotch whiskies from which to help oneself to a nightcap. What more could one wish for? Top marks!
Better Than Perfect
We stopped into Austin's Holidae House this last weekend to see if they had a room available, and we knew immediately upon entering that THIS is where we wanted to be.
Laurence Austin and his wife Marcia have created the most beautiful and relaxing B & B we have ever visited. They are hosts in the classic B & B mold -- friendly and caring for our total comfort.
Our room (#5) was large and roomy with a canopied bed. Every touch in our room from the wall paper and curtains to the sconces was perfect for this Victorian era house. We were thrilled to find we had one of the rooms with a jacuzzi tub.
The tray of after dinner drinks in the sitting room was a wonderfully unexpected touch.
The breakfast? Well, what can I say; little blueberry scones, organic yogurt, home made granola, free range farm fresh eggs, perfect bacon and home made strawberry jam! -- and that was just the choice we chose. Everything is cooked to order, and the coffee is Starbucks.
We are already planning our next visit to Austin's Holidae House.
GREAT! What a welcome we received and our room was LOVELY!
Great - truly great. The welcome we received from the Innkeepers was just truly kind - worth a million dollars!
Our room was lovely and decorated and fully-furnished and absolutely clean and toasty WARM and the jetted tub was a treat.
Bill and I both thought we had known the house for many decades - and had many happy hours there already - in our first but not last visit!
The Service - was from a genuine enjoyment of innkeeping. Sitting in the living room was like home, with an unexpected tray of complimentary cordials. Breakfast was prepared to order and was first-class and delicious.
We HIGHLY recommend anyone visiting Bethel to stay here, or make the Austin's Holidae House your destination and Bethel secondary.
Our weekend at Austin's Holidae House was one of Life's Good Pleasures.
Mrs. Murphy's B&B in Dingle, Ireland has now been bumped down to second favorite - Austin's is now my Best Favorite!
Gracious hosts, delicious food
A lovely stay in a delightful town. Great location for skiing at Sunday River (Mountain Explorer shuttle stops in front of B&B), and Main Street location makes it easy to walk to restaurants, shops and other attractions. Gracious hosts Marcia and Lawrence make you feel truly special by preparing a full spread breakfast, and were happy to accommodate special dietary needs. Bethel has a 4-plex movie theatre and many bars for nighttime entertainment. The B&B was cozy and comfortable. We had a room with an in-bathtub jacuzzi (nothing fancy but served the purpose). Only downside - our room was by the front door, which was loud during the early morning hours and at night when people were coming and going. Also, the wood floors meant we often heard people walking (stomping) upstairs. I would recommend one of the upstairs rooms away from the high traffic areas.
I am compelled to write this review (& I never have before) as the Hosts of Austin's Holidae House, Marcia and Laurence, are by far the most gracious of any I have ever met. The B & B, situated at the perfect location in downtown Bethel (near shops, restaurants and the shuttle bus to Sunday River Ski Resort just outside the front porch) is lovely for sure. The full breakfast, made w/ fresh/local ingredients, is prepared fresh to order and quite hearty. But, it is the graciousness of the the hosts that is most exceptional. My family and I were made to feel at home and like VIP's all at the same time. The warmth of the place is only surpassed by the the incredibly accommodating nature of the Inn Keeper's (I hesitate to say more as I fear Marcia and Laurence may be taken advantage of). Our initial stay has prompted our booking weekends right through to the end of ski season. I write this review after now spending 5 wonderful nights.
