I am planning their trip to Maine in August (their anniversary). I am "packaging" the trip as a gift. They aren't very active, so the emphasis will be on beautiful views. Any opinions about the Lobster Festival in Rockland? I was considering a hotel stay in Boothbay Harbor because it is mid-way between Rockland for the festival and Freeport for shopping. Any recommendations for a place with fantastic views, not too stuffy-but not too loud either, with a restaurant and pool? Any opinions about Linekin Bay Resort?
Also, any other suggestions for whale watching tours? Clambakes? Any other suggestions for low exertion outings?
Since this is their 50th wedding anniversary gift from their children, I'm feeling the pressure to "make it perfect".
Thank you!

I would skip the lobster festival. Fun for families but not much other than a traffic nightmare for old folks.
WelchHouseInn is a favorite in Boothbay but it's a B&B with no pool or restaurant....walking distance to the town however.
Check out OceanPointInn, a place that's been around quite awhile and may remind your parents of places they stayed when they were first married. Not a luxury resort but beautiful pool and views and a good restaurant...it's in East Boothbay.
Go for the Cabbage Island Clambake instead of a drive to the lobster festival. They'll take a boat to an island and enjoy an old-fashioned lobster feed near the shore. Memorable and enjoyable.
