Greenville Inn at Moosehead Lake: Wonderful place

We didn't have reservations but we were lucky and stayed in one of their cottages. Being from Florida, i really didn't expect them to have AC in this part of Maine, but they did. We really didn't need it at night since it was pretty chilly. It had everything we needed. There was cable TV, a big bathroom with an unexpected towel warmer, 2 comfortable sitting chairs, a queen bed with a pillow top (pretty comfy) and best of all there was a great view. The breakfasts had a lot of choices and we didn't need anything until dinnertime. We also had dinner one of the evenings in the onsite restaurant which turned out to be the best meal we'd had on our trip. Our 2nd nite we ate at the Blair Inn. It was okay, nothing that I would go back for. I don't usually go for places that are all-inclusive since you don't get as many choices and they tend to be more of assembly-line food which it was.

Great views, great location, excellent food

Moosehead Hills Cabins: Romantic/Family Luxury cabin on lake front

The Sunrise Lodge on Loon Lake (aka Wilson Pond) has a private dock with canoes, which are brought in after Oct. 15th or so. We arrived in late Oct. and the weather was horrible, but we had a great time anyway. The view is spectacular from every room in the cabin, with floor to ceiling windows. The construction is new, the forced hot water heat is wonderful (can get a little noisy), and the fireplace with blower cranks out the heat. There is a dishwasher, microwave, toaster, refrigerator, coffee pot, all new. There are lots of dishes, pots, pans and utensils. Two large tubs that seat two smallish adults (5'8" 150 lbs) fairly comfortably, one with jets. The down beds, pillows, and comforters are cozy and warm. Only a 13" tv w/dvd player, but honestly, we didn't use it and didn't miss it. We were hiking and moose searching most of the time. At night we played one of the dozen or so board games in the cabin and watched the fire. I would recommend bringing a radio/CD player. The decor is woodsy but modern enough to avoid kitsch. I would highly recommend it for a romantic getaway (like ours) or family vacation. We are going back as soon as we can.

In the warmer weather, I'm sure the private waterfront can't be beat. In the cold, the view, the tubs, and the fireplace rock. Family owned, they are friendly and anxious to please.
