Townplace Suites/Marriot: NICE!

by m1nkey

We were in need of an extended stay or an apartment in the South Portland/Scarborough area for four months. The Townplace had an arrangement with the school for a special rate.
We found the room to be clean and roomy with plenty of storage space. It was a studio but it was well appointed . The staff was very friendly and helpful and the property was well organized. And the bed was excellent.

The designers of this property did an excellent job of utilizing the space and they thought of the needs of the extended stay customer.

Motel 6: Budget Lodging

by Fazenross

I have stayed at the locations in Augusta and Portland, and would recommend them. The rooms, although no frills, are clean and have cable TV and private bathrooms. Best of all, Portland's Motel 6 allows you to stay for under $50. Augusta's is not much more. I know there is one in Bangor as well, but I have not yet stayed there.

Fair price.

Primrose Inn - Bar Harbor: B&B that's also a tourist information center

by ChrisSheena

Not only is the Primrose Inn a beautifully appointed 1878 vintage Bed & Breakfast with the best home cooked breakfasts, it contains a mine of useful information for the visitor. Jeff and Catherine are consumate hosts who make sure you have everything you need while staying in their beautiful home and managing to keep out of your way at the same time. On arrival we were given plenty of information regarding the best places to eat (including the menu of each restaurant so we could avoid having to trawl around the place looking at menus), places to see, the best walks and anything else we needed to know. Returning to the Inn after a day of exploration to be met be freshly cooked cookies laid out in the afternoon was just awesome. There are lots of books and DVDs to choose from. I laughed at this at the time, but have since done the same thing myself - Jeff has all the Best Picture Oscar winners on DVD - all catalogued and lined up ready for you to view in your rooms. How organised is that ? There are many excellent reviews of the Inn - take a look. We are happy to reccommend a stay here.

a cabin in Maine

by german_eagle

Our friends from Boston invited us to stay with them in their daughter's family's cabin at a lake in Maine. We agreed right away. If you ever get such an invitation then take it! It was an unique experience.

Maine cabins are often rather basic - and this one was to a certain degree, too. The best feature is the location right by the lake. Our friends also had a boat and we did a cruise on the lake the first afternoon (weather not co-operating unfortunately).

Of course the cabin provided everything needed, from fully equipped kitchen to bathroom, heating, sundeck etc. It was magical to see the mist over the lake in the morning, the sunrise, the foliage. Whoa. And it was pure nature there, far away from the next town.

Camping/Cottages in Bar Harbor

by heywinks

Like camping? There are a few campgrounds that offer oceanview/waterfront sites. I was just in Bar Harbor/Acadia over Memorial Day wknd and camped at the KOA campground. A little pricey for just a tent site but ours was waterfront. Great waking up to a view of the ocean. I've also camped at Blackwoods Campground in Acadia. That was great as well.

Another time when I wasn't camping, I stayed at Eden Village Motel and Cottages. It's great for a family or a group of friends. There was a kitchenette, living room area, bedroom. It was quiet and private.

SEA BREEZE MOTEL: PANORAMIC OCEAN VIEW - BAR HARBOR

by LoriPori

As it advertised Ocean View Motel, we thought we would stay here at the SEA BREEZE MOTEL. It was a lovely New England style Motel with lush lawns and gardens and wrap around porches with ocean views. We enjoyed our stay here very much. It was located just outside town on highway 3 and close to many seafood restaurants and a five minute drive to downtown Bar Harbor.

BRUNSWICK SUPER 8 MOTEL: LOVELY BRUNSWICK MAINE MOTEL

by LoriPori

Monday September 24, 2007
As it was getting near the end of the day, it was time to look for a place to stay for the night. I checked my "Travel Coupon Book" and there was a SUPER 8 MOTEL in Brunswick. The ad said it was close by shops and restaurants. Well, it turned out to be a wonderful place to stay. The room was spacious, with a microwave and mini fridge. The Motel offers 71 rooms and for Hansi - free wireless high speed internet in the Lobby. Complimentary "SuperStart" Breakfast.
I just want to add, that I always try to find and use the "Travel Coupon Book" It is so helpful in finding accommodations for the night. It contains locator maps and most important great money saving coupons. Now for the Super 8, we paid $58.88 when we presented our coupon. As we sat in the Lobby on the computer, others who came in after us paid as much as $74.00 for the same rooms. Conditions are that they only reserve a few rooms at the coupon price and no reservations can be made ahead of time - so first come - first served. It pays to look for accommodations early and as we never know where we'll be at the end of the day, we rarely make reservations.

Belfast Harbor Inn: Motel in Belfast

by lfllmg

The room was OK, clean enough. A little bit out of the way but a good place for a stop over. Is better to book a room on the back, it has a nice view of the water and away from the noice of the road.
