Belfast Harbor Inn: Motel in Belfast
The room was OK, clean enough. A little bit out of the way but a good place for a stop over. Is better to book a room on the back, it has a nice view of the water and away from the noice of the road.

This hotel takes me back in time and not necessarily a better time. It is pretty convenient for walking around but it is overpriced at $155.00 per night with parking next door at $11.00. Breakfast is not included and was expensive with terrible service . We will look for somewhere else next time.
I'm posting this to let you know you should book ahead if you're stopping in Kittery . We didn't and ended up in this dump . The room is run down but at least the bed was clean and breakfast is included but for $107.00 you can do much better than this place.
Its a one night only stop for sure.

We spent a rainy afternoon playing cards inside the lean-to at Chimney Pond campsite at the base of Mount Katahdin before hiking to the summit.
It was actually very nice. We put a tarp over the open side ( there were already nails there to hang it on) and none of the rain got in. It was comfortable and not cold , and we all slept well.
The second lean-to is at Abol campground, where we spent the first night at Baxter State Park. This one you can drive to. It was smaller than the one at Chimney pond and didn't quite have enough room for 4 people.
I think I already did above. Lean-tos are better than tents in a remote area, since you do not have to carry your tent, plus they are better in bad weather.

We reserved late, so B&B's in town were all booked. We found this place on web. Made reservations by phone - friendly, simple process.
TYI is about five miles outside of Camden, an easy ride down Rt. 52 and a picturesque one, past a lake with rocky islands that is a stunningly beautiful view.
We were greeted by owner MaryAnn Mercier as we arrived and given a smile and offered a glass of wine. She helped lug one of our heavy bags upstairs and gave us a brief tour of the Inn. Our rooms consisted of a private bath, a sitting room with TV, couch, chairs and fireplace, and a modest bedroom, all done up with country charm. A central sitting areas is available for guests to mingle, with a TV, games and books at hand. A porch off the 2nd floor offers tables with umbrellas for those who want to relax outside.
We were busy in the evenings, so didn't take advantage of the restaurant for dinner, but the breakfasts (included in the room price) were delights to look at and consume.
MaryAnn said WiFi is available and indeed I did detect the network with a strong signal in the public sitting area, but could not connect through the server. I had no problem before leaving home and used my WiFi in another hotel the night before and after our stays there. Didn't have time to dig into it.
Menu is excellent. Manuel Marcier is a former NY chef and his menu reflects his love of his craft.
Reasonably-priced B&B with friendly owners and clean, comfortable rooms. Maybe not unique, but admirable just the same. Well-stocked bar, which is another nice place to relax.
Is there a difference between a hotel and a motel?
The Navigator Motor Inn was a very decent hotel in Rockland, Maine very close to the ferry terminal to depart out to the islands of Vinalhaven, North Haven or Matinicus Island.
We stayed here only one night, but to be honest could very easily have stayed a couple more. The room was clean (for the most part, the blanket on the bed had a suspicious "spot" on it so we removed it and put on another extra blanket that had been stored in the closet within the hotel room) and very spacious. We had a small balcony overlooking the ferry terminal and with a slight glimpse of the bay.
The view overlooking the terminal is very convenient if you have a car in line at the terminal to keep easy tabs on it and see if you need to move the car up. The hotel's location was also very close to the old Rockland downtown area with nice cafes, antique and art shops, and a couple tourist paraphenalia shops.
Overlooks the Vinalhaven, North Haven and Matinicus Island ferry terminal.

i have not been to sally mt cabins yet i am trying to find some one that has. there web site is great and they have great prices but id still feel better if someone had been there and if they could tell me a little about it thanks
I have to say that a rental is hard to find....but you might find one.
Once you do, you will come back every year I can promise you that.
Or find another Maine island to visit for a time. They are unique experiences of going back in time....a slice of old time charm and lifestyle.
Below is a website for rentals on Cliff Is. Good luck.

Cliff Island is an isolated island in the Casco Bay off the coast of Portland Maine.
If you can get a self-catering rental on this island, go for it.
They are hard to find, due to the returning visitors every year at the same place.
Contact the Cliff Island Post office for a list of rentals and good luck.
Also see the website below.
Beautiful serene place away from it all.
Leave your car on the mainland, take a ferry and forget everything....rest and respute only.
Transportation of Island, bikes, walking, golf carts, and a few all season cars that belong to the locals only.

If you are up in Maine's Rangely Lake area, there are several small, rustic cabins that can be rented right on the lake shore. Ours had a deck overlooking the lake and when we walked out on it I felt like I was living a scene from "On Golden Pond". It also had a wood stove that was perfect for keeping it cozy on those chilly autumn evenings. I imagine that the grove of cabins gets pretty busy during the summer, but we were practically the only customers when we went in the autmn -- even though it was foliage season.
