More about English Meadows Inn Bed and Breakfast
Peaceful and relaxing
We stayed at the English Meadows for three nights at the end of August and had a thoroughly good time. Our room, the Tack Room, was quiet and very private, despite being surrounded on three sides by windows. It was furnished in an English country house style, lace curtains and chintz fabric. While this might not be to everyone's taste, we found the room to be comfortable and airy and easy to sleep in. This suite also has a small sitting room with an outside patio, and an en-suite bathroom that was completely modern. Put succinctly, our accommodation was comfortable and very relaxing.
Breakfast was an additional treat. Each morning we were presented with a delicious and imaginative meal, served with flair and great attention to detail.
However, perhaps the most rewarding experience of all was being able to watch Bruce as he managed the Inn. He is a consumate innkeeper; knowledgeable, thoughtful, engaging and completely on top of the minute-by-minute workings of the place.
We have stayed at many B&Bs in the UK and the US and by comparison to that experience, the English Meadows is most certainly one of the very best.
My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights at the end of Sept. The B&B is very cozy and very close to all of the attractions of Kennebunkport. The innkeepers, Bruce and Val, make you feel at home right away. The room was great and the common room with the fireplace was a nice place to relax. Bruce's breakfasts were the perfect way to start a day. The food was great! We highly recommend this as a place to stay!
My husband and I have just returned from our first B & B experience. We went to Kennebunkport for my birthday. First time in Kennebunkport and first time staying in B & B. The English Meadows Inn is truly amazing. Bruce the Inn Keeper has taken close attention to details. He served a fabulous breakfast. He had great suggestions as far as restaurants and places to see. He was right on the money. He is truly a kind and genuine man and extremely helpful. I know my husband and I will be looking forward to seeing him again next year. Kennebunkport and the English Meadows Inn is going to be one of our yearly vacation spots.
Don't miss it
The English Meadows has become one of our 'must stay' locations on our annual tour of New England. This year was our 6th visit to this great inn.
The rooms are of the highest quality and Bruce and Valerie Jackson are terrific hosts, extremely caring and attentive.
Bruce's breakfasts should be exhibited in the Louvre, Paris, absolute works of art.
The decanter of sherry is a nice touch as are the cookies and coffee in the afternoon.
Overall a great inn and great innkeepers.
Your loss if you miss it !!!

English Meadows Inn - truly enchanting
English Meadows Inn is truly enchanting. We are originally from Miami. It was our first visit to Kennebunk Maine. We can not thank Bruce enough for his hospitality, warmth and opening the doors to his English Meadows.
The place is absolutely beautiful and warm. We truly enjoyed our stay and will continue to visit English Meadows the next time we are in Kennebunk. Aside from having such a wonderful and cozy place, Bruce was incredible just making our stay much more enjoyable. The wonderful breakfast was delicious!!!!!!
In the morning when the sun rises, you can hear the birds chirping. You step outside to your balcony as it is covered with snow was just unbelievable.
The fireplace (which we lit ourselves) was beautiful - providing warmth - bringing the spirit of Christmas.
We also thought we had lost our cameras with the wonderful pictures we took of Maine and English Meadows. To our suprise, Bruce called us 2 days later letting us know that he found the camera in our room. We thank him so much for his honesty. He mailed the camera to our place in Miami. As we browsed through the pictures, we realized in actuality, how beautiful it really was! BRUCE - THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR GIVING US OUR MEMORIES BACK!!
We will definitely visit Maine again and stay at English Meadows!!!
When you visit Kennebunk, you have to stay at English Meadows!

Seeing is believing!
Great location - easy walk to shops etc. Lovely porch, enjoyed early morning coffee in the rocking chair but the name says it all - meadows everywhere, flowers abound! The rooms are unbelievably fussy although the beds are especially comfy. The hosts are too too much and breakfast is something else. Some call it gourmet but we thought most of it was appalling and only ate it out of politeness. The melon soup starter was different and rather reminiscent of medicine! The scones were not something you would serve to anyone. Would never come here again.
Perfect Weekend Getaway
My husband and I stayed at the English Meadows Inn over President's Day weekend and were very happy with our stay. Everything about the inn is stellar-the location is an extremely easy walk to the center of town yet far enough away to provide a retreat from noise and main street traffic. Our room was very spacious with a large bathroom that had double sinks and a whirlpool tub. The down comforter kept us incredibly warm on the two chilly evenings we were there, and there were so many thoughtful in-room touches (complimentary bottled water and decanter of sherry, heated towel rack, wine glasses and bottle opener, chocolates) that it would have been quite easy just to stay in the room for the entire visit. The innkeeper (Bruce) made 3-course breakfasts each morning. Sure, they weren't your standard bacon and eggs or cereal and danish, but that's what sets the inn apart even more. We enjoyed delicious and homemade 3-cheese quiche, ricotta-stuffed french toast with local syrup, cranberry-apple crisp with Devonshire cream, and more, accompanied by plenty of freshly brewed coffee and a whole pot of tea. Bruce had plenty of suggestions for area activities and where to go for dinner. Obviously, I can't rave enough about this place and look forward to returning.
An Inn to Remember
We decided at the last minute to do a one nighter get away
and emailed several Inns in the area. Bruce was very quick
to respond and answered all our questions immediately.
The pictures he emailed of the luxury suite were just
as impressive in person.
The Beautfully presented homemade breakfast was one
to be experienced. My husband who really likes to eat was
very pleased with the quality and amount of the perfectly
prepared breakfast. The dining experience was set in a
beautifully, authenic tea-rrom setting, with lovely music
playing in the background.
We are already planning another trip back!

Hands down, the best place we've stayed!
We had received rave reviews from some close friends when they stayed at the English Meadows recently. So we were very excited as our March 23-24th date grew closer. We've stayed at several B&Bs throughout New England, so we had some preconceived ideas. We chose the Carriage House Suite because we wanted to feel totally relaxed with all the comforts of home, but none of the work! :) The only reason to downplay any such positive review is because we *selfishly* liked it THAT much and would like to stay again!
The suite has a full kitchen and I wanted to cook breakfast in bed the first day. Bruce was so accommodating and made sure we had all the necessary kitchenware. So in spite of the great reputation Bruce has for his breakfast, we cooked in the first day. Thank you for that opportunity. Fortunately, we stayed two nights so we were able to experience the fabulous breakfast spread that Bruce made on Sunday morning. There is no comparison. He clearly puts great pride into his B&B, his food and his service.
Bruce was extremely accomodating and also made some great resturant recommendations. Our trip could only have been better if we had stayed longer. My hat is off to Bruce. I'd give the English Meadows Inn and *extra* star if I could.

My husband and I have stayed in several B&B's and the English Meadows has become one of our favorite. Our room was warm and inviting with plenty of sunshine in the day. The breakfast was wonderful and creative. Bruce is one of the best Innkeepers I have come across in our travels. He made us feel more than welcomed. He had suggestions of things to do and places to have dinner. We are planning to stay at the English Meadows in December and giving our son a gift certification for a stay. I would highly recommend English Meadow to anyone. It was a delightful specail weekend.
