We did not actually stay at this inn, but I have discussed the White Barn with people we met in Kennebunkport who have stayed there. The tip is based on those conversations. And, my wife and I did enjoy a Sunday dinner at the White Barn, which was spectacular. (see restaurant tip)
Although reasonably close to Kennebunkport and the Lower Village of Kennebunk, the White Barn is nonetheless not right in the middle of a tourist area. Its location is quiet and shady.
Most of the rooms have nice wood burning fireplaces. The inn also offers turn-down service, robes, and fresh flowers in the rooms on a daily basis.
Upon checking in, you'll be taken to a parlor and given a brandy while the uniformed valets park your car and gather your luggage, transporting it to your room.
It's just a very, very nice place.
