Cook your own lobster!!!
by herzog63
It wouldn't be a visit to Old Orchard Beach if you didn't pick up some Lobsters and a couple of pecks of Steamer Clams!!! Boy it had been quite a few years since I had done a Lobster/Clam feast in Maine!! But I really had a great time!! My Aunt Marjorie and Uncle Gary had their 5th wheel Mansion set up at Old Orchard Beach and an extra Tent as they had a few visitors!! My Mom, My sister, My Uncle Su-Su (Theron) came all the way from Mississippi!!, We also had cousins Karen, With her boys Forrest, James and Trever and cousins Barry and Lynn show up for a visit so it was a real special time for me!! I live 5000 miles from all of these people!! Oh yeah I forgot to mention the Sweet Corn!! We were in Maine right at the peak of the Sweet Corn season! I ate 5 or 6 ears of corn that day too!!
Drive down to York's Wild Kingdom!
by Jefie
Looking for yet another family activity? The Wild Kingdom zoo and amusement park is located about 30 minutes away from Old Orchard Beach. The zoo features animals from all over the world and at the animal show, the caretakers will explain how everything possible is done to replicate the animals' natural environment and behaviour in the wild. In fact, the animal show is not about tricks and such, it's about giving information about some of the zoo's most interesting species. There are certain animals you are allowed to feed (goats, deer and ducks), and paddle boats are available free of charge to get a closer look at the ducks (ours was broken and therefore made for a very long but hilarious ride!).
The zoo's amusement park is not very big, but with our discount coupons (available in the park's brochure that can easily be found in Old Orchard Beach) it ended up costing only an additional $2 for the rides. The kids still enjoyed it because the rides were different from those in Old Orchard Beach, although I don't think my niece will be going back in the haunted house anytime soon!!
And while you're there, you should definitely take a few minutes to walk down Main Street (near the amusement park's entrance). On your way to the beach, you'll find plenty of souvenir and novelty shops, along with many candy stores!
The entrance to the zoo is located on Route 1. You can also take I-95 and get off at the York/Ogunquit exit.
Old Orchard Beach *The Canadian Dream*

Old Orchard Beach *The Québecer's Dream*
I am from Montreal, Québec. All the people of my country are searching the nearest beach on the Altantic Coast. Old Orchard is like a paradise because the motels are good (like the Neptune Motel owned by Ms Violette(From Québec)), the food is great (like at the Dunstan Old School Buffet), the Beach is very clean and the waves are so big that they almost killed me forty times. The nights are cool and crowded because everyone is in the towncenter where the Palace Playland park is settled. Every thursday night, there are fireworks at Palace Playland, on the side of the Pier. Don't forget your money because there are the best fried doughts I ever ate.
