The Carriage House Inn is an historic Victorian B&B in the small village of Searsport, Maine. I don't think I've ever stayed at a more enchanting B&B. The rooms are beautiful, as is the landscape, and the lovely proprietor makes fantastic breakfasts (I'm talkin' cognac french toast here!).
Unique Quality: It's just beautiful! The inn is on the National Historic register and it's location in the peaceful town of Searsport is not far from the the more touristy places of Camden and Bar Harbor. The owner has layered the house and grounds with such rich texture that it feels like you are in a dream.
If it is available, I recommend staying in "The Captain's Room". This room was in fact the room of Captain John McGilvery, who built the mansion in 1874.
Directions: Right on Rt. 1, north of Belfast
