I have put the price per person as 'not applicable', only because there are various rates, dependent upon time of year, size of room, with/withoug private bath, and so on. The rates vary from $55 for a single room in May-June 20th , and Sept-Oct., to $130 for a Queen or Twin Room with private bath from June 21st to Labor Day.
And as it is the only Hotel in the area, it is not possible to compare prices with other like establishments.
Unique Quality: Unfortunately when one only spends one night in an hotel, it's not really possible to gauge its character, its ambience. By the time we arrived in the late afternoon, the sun was already low in the sky, and there was hardly a ripple on the water, which was gently lapping against the massive, rounded granite bolders on the beach. this ws just what I had imagined Clark Island would be like, in fact, it was rather better. More's the pity we only had aon overnight stay.
The Inn was built in 1928, to house the granite workers from nearby quarries. It was converted in 1940 the main Inn has 13 guest rooms, 5 with private bathrooms, and the other rooms have shared facilities.
Each room is distinct, and furnished with quilt covered beds and tasteful antique furniture.
Unique Quality: the Craignair Inn has its own Restaurant, which is frequented by local residents and hotel guests alike.
Directions: At Clark Island. fpllow the signs from routes 73 (from Rockland) or 131 (from Thomaston).
