My boyfriend and I stayed at Celie's B&B for two nights and two days. We loved our room! The bed was so comfortable. We had spent a little bit more time sleeping than we wanted to, but you could not help it; the bed was just so soft! Another thing we liked was the cleanliness of the bed and breakfast. The location of this inn also was a plus. We were right on Thames Street, a walking distance to all the restaurants, shopping, bars, and the Water Taxi. This is also a cheap place. For the same length of stay, we spent about $200 more at a bed and breakfast last month up in New Haven, Connecticut. The only cons about the stay was the non-functioning TV and the parking (but very safe neighborhood).
My wife and I booked our stay for an extremely needed weekend of rest and relaxed writing. We booked our stay at Celie's based upon their website assurance of a quiet, comfortable room. We received an email just before our arrival time telling us we would have to park away from the bed & breakfast due to Thames Street being closed for St. Patrick's Day activities over the weekend. We received this email too late to reschedule, according to the no-refund policy posted on their website. We stayed only one night, but because of the inflexibility of the owners we paid for two nights. The ongoing music and subsequent late night clean up noise directly outside our window made it impossible for us to relax. If we had been informed when we booked the room about the concert only feet from our room we would have booked elsewhere and, surely, would have gone back to Celie's another weekend. It is a beautiful place, but as in all relations aesthetics are only as enjoyable as the graciousness within.
Unique Quality: If we had been treated with respect and not as ignorant tourists who should have known what to expect at Celie's on St. Patrick's Day weekend (we don't live there and have never spent a night in that vacinity before) I would rate the Bed and Breakfast a value, but there are too many other accomodations where the owners show both respect and caring for their guests to help Celie's continue to invest in their property.
I have only stayed in one place in Baltimore (outside my house) but would recommend it highly. Celie's is a small and friendly three story b&b in the heart of Fells Point. The rooms are equipped with whirlpool tubs, skylights and some have private balconies. Be sure to have the excellent breakfast which comes with the room.
Unique Quality: Two of the rooms on the garden side have private balconies which are great. You can also bring up a bottle of wine and watch the sunset on the roof deck.
Directions: Celie's is located on Thames street on the waterfront, near the taxi boats and across the street from the "police H.Q." building on the Homicide TV series.
