Cold is okay, wet and cold sucks.: It Rains...Bring a Tarp
Keep two sets of kit, a wet kit you wear during the day and a dry kit to sleep in. Always keep your belt kit on you no matter what. Read 'Immediate Action' by Sergeant Andy McNabb (22 SAS) for further instruction.

You sleep in a tent!: Are You Kidding Me?
You need a tent in the winter but you only need a sleeping bag in the spring and summer.
Unique Quality: Get a site overlooking the Potomac River. If they're taken, get a site high on a ridge with plenty of open sky. Avoid the heavily wooded sites.
