Relatives of the Second Owner
Believe it or not, I had breakfast with the Silvers! Bill and Russ Silver (and their wives) happened to be visiting Havre de Grace when I was there and, of course, stayed in the Spencer Silver Mansion. They were very nice people and made my visit even more special. We even took a picture of them with Carol's picture of Charles Silver, the second owner of the Mansion, who also owned a local cannery.

Outside the Spencer Silver Mansion
Not only is the inside of the Spencer Silver Mansion nice, but so is the outside. Don't miss the covered porches, hammock, double glider swing and grape arbor in the garden.

Best Lodging in Havre de Grace
Built in 1896, the Spencer Silver Mansion is the nicest place to stay for the value in Havre de Grace. In Nov 06 there was an excellent (and accurate) review in the Chesapeake Life Magazine. The owner, Carol Nemeth, is a charming hostess and has a wonderful sense of history. She has restored and decorated the Mansion with impeccable taste and attention to detail. She also serves a delicious breakfast (included in the price). See also my travelogue here for pics of more of the rooms in the Mansion.

Spencer Silver Mansion Bed and Breakfast
There are no large hotels in Havre de Grace. There are some some motels on the highway just outside of the city . But if you are visiting Havre de Grace for more than just an overnight stop over you will want to stay at one of its Bed and Breakfasts. Most of the Bed and Breakfasts are in the mansion built along Union Avenue.
