Go see the kite display at Kite Loft!
by tpangelinan
Everyday at the beach, a kite store called
The Kite Loft, puts out an impressive display of flags and kites! They usually have a theme, and some expert flyers out there doing tricks for you! It is very festive, and always bright and colorful for a great camera shot! We almost always go and check out the flags and kites on display in front of the Kite Loft!
If you like raw food, and I know some do,
by tpangelinan about Harrison's Harbor Watch is for You!
Great food, beautiful restaurant, what a view! Ask your hotel for a recomendation, and you may get a coupon to this great tradition at the begining of the boardwalk. It is right by the museum, and some great rides too, beautiful shops, location is a plus too!
It is a bit pricy, so save it for your big dinner out! Raw Bar is open Saturday and Sunday.
I like the Chicken Chesapeake, Chicken breast stuffed with crab meat. Yum! Great salad with dinner, and all the side dishes you can eat!
FIrst time to Ocean City, Maryland

"Getting there"
While the advent of the internet seems to have lessen challenges of finding maps, directions, etc. do not count on it totally, especially Mapquest.com. I found it to be woefully wrong on many occassions and this trip from Northern VA to OC, Md to take five hours not the 3 hours and 9 minutes suggested. The directions were clear, but nearly like the bird flies, regardless if it was back country roads, which they were. Alas, one had an accident, so we had to circle around about 20 miles south and east to rejoin. Homeward bound, we asked the hotel staff the best way, and it was a main east west highway. Still took a longer time that 3 hours, but a straight shot.
"Arrival"
The city of Ocean Beach is well defined with roads that are laid out logically north to south, numbered with the lower numbered streets reflecting the older town with the board walk. Finding our hotel was easy.
"Accommodations"
I went to Ocean City for several reasons, the major one being that I was transporting two others to attend a conference. And my lodging was being paid for. Since we had signed up late we didn't get to stay at the resort where the conference was being held at, but we were a short walk away. Our hotel was at the Gold Coast Mall which was quite convenient and had the movie theatres and a Denny's. I would stay there again. I had priced the rooms earlier in the week thinking I would stay an additional day, but by the time I knew for sure I wanted to stay, the price went up $100.00 a night, so make sure you book all your dates far in advance (2 weeks B4 at least). The resort had much nicer facilities and the restaurant there was terrific.
