I saw several people posting about the beach patrol coming around and "tagging" people? What is this all about? Do you really have to pay to play on the beach?
Many beaches require "badge" now. You pay a nominal day fee or more for a weekly tag. They then have badge checkers or patrols that walk the beach and make you pay if you haven't already purchased a badge. This helps defray the cost of Lifeguards and cleanup etc.
every night a gentleman creates sand sculptures next to the Boardwalk Westward Ho , fishing off the pier at night and catching a SHARK...be it was a sand shark and I was prob. 10 y.o....this placed was bulldozed years ago...
As an alternative to Ocean City (or if you eventually tire of the boardwalk), consider driving a few miles north across the border into Delaware (Fenwick Island). Here, I found the beaches quiet and peaceful, with only a few people out (of course, there was a storm approaching, and it was only April). Also, the coastal highway had lots more appetizing options for dining. I was rewarded with a visit to Fenwick Crabhouse.
The boom over condos has taken over O.C.,Md. These places will not last long..Big money is spent to tear these down and build condos...
The character of Ocean City is slowly fading away...
TOO many high-rises being put up...Give the town a break....
Assateague Island State Park features the famous wild Assateague Ponies in a beautiful nature preserve just 15 minutes from Ocean City, Md. The ponies
run in the wild at the park. You can see them playing in Ocean's waves.
AS YOU CAN SEE BY THE PHOTO THERE IS PLENTY OF ROOM TO ENJOY THE BEACH FRONT AND OCEAN.
