More about Quality Inn Beachfront
Poor Quality Inn
by TripAdvisor Member YanksFanJen
We just returned from our first trip to Ocean City, MD. We booked 4 nights at the Quality Inn Beachfront, which is on 33rd Street. Upon check-in, the staff seemed friendly and gave us our choice of rooms based on the view to the ocean. Having done quite a bit of research on hotels in the area, we chose QIB because of its location, on the beach and 6 blocks from the boardwalk. The location worked out to be exactly what we wanted. The hotel has a game room and gym, which we did not use. They also have indoor parking, which would come in handy if it was raining while you were checking out or in. However, the hotel quality was poor. Our king size efficiency room had wallpaper peeling off, stained carpets, stained chairs, stained lamp shade and worn out carpet near the balcony. There were 3 drawers and a small closet. If we were traveling with more than 2 people, I think space would have been an issue. The kitchen cabinet was torn and the molding was peeling off the bottom. The bathroom was dated and the replacement styrofoam in the drop ceiling lifted up every time the air conditioner kicked on, leaving a considerable amount of space open in the shower. The shower floor was worn out. When we looked outside our balcony, we saw that the outdoor pool was closed up. I was furious and when I asked the front desk about it, they directed me to the 4th floor outdoor pool, which is really a children's pool. The indoor pool was a decent size, but needs to be heated. The roof over the pool leaked when it rained. I had to call housekeeping to have toilet paper and tissues brought up to the room because we ran out. Instead of replacing the toilet paper on the holders, they left it on the sink. For the amount of money that we paid, we expected an updated hotel. We plan to return to Ocean City, but will not stay at this hotel, or its other 2 locations.
Great Hotel

My husband & I stayed at this hotel after reading some of the reviews on this site. We were both very pleased with everything about our stay. The room was very clean, everything was in working order and had everything we needed. We had a room with double beds and was surprised to find that there were actually 2 separate bathrooms. One with the shower, sink & toilet, 1 with just the toilet, and a vanity area in between! The hotel itself was also clean & very nicely decorated. We really felt that we definately got a great room at a good price.
Loved this Quality Inn!

We left the Holiday Inn on Atlantic Avenue (see review titled "Never Again!") after one night; they did not give us the room we requested due to overbooking. The OC tourism department had lots of hotel info, so we looked for a hotel with jacuzzi suites. We are sooo glad we stayed here! We took the Presidential Suite on the 6th floor for 2 nights, and upon seeing the room, asked to stay an additional night. The suite was HUGE, and so was the cool wraparound balcony (see photos). ALL staff members we encountered were friendly and courteous- what a refreshing change from the snooty Holiday Inn staff. Maid service was timely and thorough. The indoor pool was a liitle cold, but the hot tub with a sweet waterfall more than made up for it. Sauna room worked well too. This hotel is showing some age, but that is ok with us, it has charm and character not found in many larger hotels. We will definitely go back next year! Thank you Quality Inn for a great time!
Great place!

Stayed here with my girlfriend Grace this past weekend. We had an oceanfront room. The staff were friendly. The views of the ocean were great. Everything went smoothly, we did our own thing and we were very happy with our stay. Would've loved to have stayed longer though. Never knew how large Ocean City really is. Fun town.
Great Value for Off-Season Stay

Stayed here on 10/17 & 10/18/07 while on a business trip. I booked thru "OC Rooms.Com", which gave me a rate of $58 per night for a basic room with 2 double beds and a kitchenette! The room was very clean and large...(if somewhat dated-the wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling a bit but the tub and toilet were clean, and the kitchen appliances had seen better days); the bedding was standard, but there was a nice side view of the ocean from the room's private balcony. It looked like there was a very nice indoor pool and hot tub as well as the seasonal outdoor pool area. The location was good, and convenient to the convention center....I would definitely stay here again.
Just an aside.....If you're going to OC, I would advise booking from the OC Rooms.Com website-it gave cheaper rates than any of the other booking sites as well as the hotel's own website.
Well equipped but aging
by TripAdvisor Member glendale-member
This is a large, well equipped but aging hotel. My room was from the 1950s, with mismatched furniture and decor and no sign of modernization. The bathroom was inconvenient to use and even had a drain in the middle of its floor. However, from appearances many of the hotels in Ocean City look to be in the same condition.
My room was plenty large. It had a small kitchenette and a nice balcony. The hotel is 8 stories high in the mid-Ocean City area (at 33rd Street). It is right next to the beach, although at this location to get to the beach you have to walk through an area of protected dunes, using designated walking paths, to reach the water.
The hotel is 6 blocks north of the end of the boardwalk (where the sandy area used by beachgoers comes right up to the boardwalk). The hotel has a very large indoor pool with sauna and whirlpool as well as an outdoor pool. Its connected parking garage allows you to drive up and park on the level of the floor your room is on.
Pleasurable Anniversary

Even though they had part of their roof removed due to a recent storm, the overall experience in this hotel was above average. The pool was clean, the hot tub was relaxing and clean the atmosphere was entertaining due to the different variations of parrots they have on display and the theme they have set up in the inside area. Some of the older parrots are allowed to come out of their cage and walk around. They do not fly. Wonderful for young children and families with older children as well.. The cafe was good for lunch food (did not have breakfast there and not sure about dinner). Rooms were clean and smelled clean (no mildew and musty smell). Pillows are accommodating for people with allergies. Staff was very helpful and accommoating. This hotel is an older hotel to the area and very well kept.
Great access to the beach and centrally located on Coastal Highway to either end of the beach. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to enjoy their time at the beach.
Good Quality, Nice rooms with a View, and Good Restaraunt
by TripAdvisor Member TravelRickJean
Went end of July into August Monday to Monday and had a surprising visit, I have stayed in the past at the Command Hotel and this was definately a step up. I had an ocean view efficiency on the 7th floor with a nice view of the ocean. The Restaraunt Staff was always very friendly and had very good food. There was plenty!!! of parking very hard to find anywhere else. They had two of three pools open I beleive that the 3rd pool was just built (Beach side) and I am sure it will be open sometime in the future. Very surprised to have a Indoor Pool with Sauna and Hot tub (Good for any rainy days). The Quality Inn is located a good distance from the boardwalk but close enough to some very good places like the convention center and Jolly Roger Amusement park. Another plus is Anthony's Deli right next door (Much more than just a place to pick up a six pack). This hotel offers very good service for the money and Free Wireless connectivity. I would definately recommend this hotel.
Wonderful and Relaxing Vacation

Our family of four stayed at this hotel at the end of June for 5 nights.
Check in took a little longer than I would have like since we were arriving late, but the employee was dealing very effecitvely with a difficult customer, so I completely understood. She was extremely friendly and professional at all times. The other staff behind the counter the rest of the week were okay, but could have been more friendly and inviting.
We stayed in Room 210, which has apparently been renovated. This is a corner oceanfront efficiency. The plus about this room is that it has extra space because of the corner it is on. I would recommend it. Rooms 310 and 410 have the same set up. The only disadvantage is that this corner is on a street area that is also the service area for the neighboring Hilton, so it was a little loud in the mornings around 9 a.m. as deliveries arrived. But after that it was fine.
We found the beds to be extremely comfortable. Our room was HUGE. We had 1 full bath, and another "toilet room" which just had the toilet in it. Also, there was a vanity/sink between the two bathrooms. There was an efficiency area with a sink, stove, fridge, dishwasher, and microwave. We had tons of room for our family of four, which included two teenagers. There were two queen beds, and a sofa that opened up into a bed. I personally would not have slept on it as it was VERY worn out, but my son didn't want to sleep with his brother so he happily slept on the "swayback" as we affectionately called it.
Quality Inn recently took over the property and have been working on improving the place. The public areas of the hotel were very clean. Our room had updated linens and carpet and furniture.
The inside pool wasn't sparkling, but it was swimmable. There was also a hot tub and sauna at the indoor pool and towels were provided. The outside pool on the 4th floor is shallow, only a couple feet deep, but it is good for kids, or just for sunbathing away from it all. I didn't see towels at that location. There is a game room, laundry room, and covered parking. The neat thing about the ample parking is the ability to park on the floor where your room is and gain access to your floor directly using your room key.
There was a complimentary USA Today available every morning in the lobby. There is a nice waiting/reception area in the lobby as well. There is a small shop in the hotel that sells slushies, boogie boards, and other sundries. I would advise going to the Ocean City Wal Mart for any swim toys as they are WAY too expensive beachside.
I think housekeeping could have done a better job cleaning the rooms. When we checked in, there were some items of clothing still in the drawers from some other patron, and there were crumbs under the table in the kitchen area. Kind of a slip shod job there. However, they were very prompt every day, and provided plenty of towels, and the like for the kitchen and bathroom areas. We checked in around 10:30 p.m. and needed an extra blanket, but housekeeping wasn't there at that time of night. However, our very friendly desk worker (Angie I believe her name was) was more than happy to get one to the desk area. We just had to run down to get it. Housekeeping always respected the Do Not Disturb tag on the door. They were friendly at all times.
To open the sliding glass door every morning to the balcony and hear the ocean was such a treat. We had a HUGE balcony since it was the corner unit. There is a screen door. We had a table and two chairs on the balcony.
There was no shortage of food. McDonalds, Burger King, Pizza places, and delis are all within walking distance. Not to mention the buffets all over the place. There is a restaurant at the hotel, but I don't recommend it. We all found the food to be overpriced, mediocre, and the service was horrible. We had to ask for the bill from the manager because we couldn't get our waitress, and there were only two other families there at the time. Unacceptable in my opinion. I wouldn't go back there.
The hotel fronts the beach, not the boardwalk. The boardwalk is about 5-10 minutes walking distance.
We ended up staying an extra night because we enjoyed ourselves so much. It isn't perfect, but it was perfectly wonderful for our family vacation. We would return again.
Not a First Choice
by TripAdvisor Member pugsly02
The staff at the QI Beachfront are great. They even helped us to find a different hotel to stay in when we had problems with our room. Our first room was next to a freight elevator which made an irritating drilling noise every time it was used. They offered to move us to a different room, but no amount of cleaning would clear the air from the previous heavy smokers. The rooms are also extremely outdated. I was aware that they are updating the property, but I didnt realize how old these rooms were. We were able to move to a different hotel that was closer to the beach, clean, and even more reasonable in price, and are vacation was saved. I suggest if looking for a room, dont be afraid to look at some smaller places along the boardwalk. You may not have all the amenities that a bigger place offers, but it doesnt matter when everything you need is within easy walking distance.
